Even so it’s not very helpful, you’re way more likely to come across the modifiers mentioned in the video, and they’re more impactful on your progress bar compared how much uphill battle barely helps you

Ya, comp just sucks in OW2. I used to try my hardest in comp to get better, but then I realized that I couldn’t really have any affect on my rank so I gave up. Now I just play comp for the golden weapons, but they drastically reduce how many points you can earn in a season so that sucks more now as well. The devs for OW2 can just go to hell. I want OW1 back.

truth.... I peaked plat last season, but can only peak silver this season... because I lose every game or get put into shittier matches... and lose like 120sr... it sucks

Everyone went down on average. Most Golds-Plats went down to like Silver-Gold. Many Masters/GMs dropped to like Diamond-Low Masters.

Great input bro. I still believe this system is significantly better than the previous. there was nothing worse than have a 3-8 card and having zero motivation to finish the card out to find out just how bad you deranked. i had multiple instances where my card was 5-2 or 5-3 and my rank went DOWN from silver to bronze. at least with this system it's much easier to track, albeit, with issues, but still less BS than before

The modifiers are annoying but I think matchmaking is better than ever rn. I haven't had a problem climbing so far. Just gotta battle tilt now you can see ur live Sr 😅

Also win streak and uphill battle modifiers may as well not exist for how much they affect ranking; I was on like a 15 WS with the modifiers both appearing basically every match and still getting the same amount as I would without, meanwhile any loss, even if expected, would net a bigger loss than said gains. They realy managed to highlight just how shit their system is and are still going to gaslight us about this.

expected just goes by which team has the highest mmr, and people with high ranks are only queing with the lowest rank they can to make it an easier match and getting win streak bonus. I've also been hit with volatile on a derank game and it doesnt make sense, even going on a 7 game win streak i have yet to see the win streak bonus

5:45 unfortunately sums it up in a nutshell. Blizzard knows people who like the game aren't going anywhere regardless of what they do at this point. And it's frustrating because there aren't any other FPS games out there today that still plays anything like OW. Otherwise, I would have been long gone too. lol

Yeah, they decided to reduce the amount of competitive points that you can earn in season nine as well. For no reason other than to make it harder to earn weapon skins. I have over 1000 hours in comp and I still only have golden weapons for half the roster. so now it’s gonna take me something like 1500 to 2000 hours to get the rest of them. The devs Just like screwing with people because they can.

Smurfs is infinitely worse then the matchmaking system. I vsd a smurf 4 times in a row last night and I just quit. It feels like every 2nd game contains a Smurf.

Havent played the game since season 1 because I was placed in silver, after being plat/diamond in ow1, just came back and had to crawl my way all the way to plat now, as a support when my teammates just go dive comp with any hero........ I had to win 10 in a row for canceling 1 game, most loss i gained was 78% and most i get per game (if it is uphill) is 20%, usually being 5-15%. I really dont get how as being around this rank previously I managed to get to the point where the game thinks I do not deserve to be here and gives me negative modifiers. In the end I realized that ranks are bs and am just playing to have fun.....

Every match is hard fought, but it definitely seems like it's way easier to fall than to climb. I'll have some good matches, close matches, bad matches, matches with leavers or trolls, end a session pretty even win-loss wise, and still somehow be a whole number down afterwards, when I should be breaking even.

imo the main issue is mmr that you have, they should have reset it, i made a second account for shits and giggles and i got place 2 divisions above my main because i played so shit when i played consistently

All i care about is that my mmr is fixed, i had a 76% win rate in plat for awhile before i seen somewhere that your mmr can be fked going from ow1 to ow2 and on my other account i made because i thought i lost my first one i climbed pretty high in ow1 but than in ow2 im hard stuck plat so i played on my brothers account for a month and hit masters. But now ive already climbed to diamond this season which i was hars stuck plat for literal months with a crazy win rate, so i could care less about anything else, i can actually climb on my main again 😂

basically this video is you complaining (partly rightfully so) about the negative modifiers. and baseline i agree with your points but we cant then forget there are positive modifiers and negative modifiers BECAUSE the other side exists. if it was just positive modifiers then everyone would get free ranks eventually even if you lost a few games in a row. thats why every modifier is mirrored to an extent. yes there can be some tweaking in the future to those modifiers and i honestly think if it becomes a problem they should just get removed. but for now it makes players feel like they get an explanation as to why they ranked more or lost more.

Well yea the positive modifiers are nice and all it’s just that negative ones seem to be a bit to over tuned to the point where losing has more impact then winning

​@real_oneiro the negative modifiers aren't wrong. When you're expected to win, it just means you're higher ranked than the enemy. It might not make a big difference if it's a plat4 average vs a plat 5 average, but if a diamond team loses to a plat3 team they should lose a lot more rank.
