All good things must come to end, but sometimes… we really wish they wouldn’t. Welcome to WatchMojo, and with the recent cancellations of Netflix shows like Jessica Jones, The Punisher, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, we’re looking at the life and death of the Netflix-Marvel television universe. This collection of interconnected series, much like its big screen counterpart, did something unprecedented in its own medium. Whereas the core MCU continues to dominate the box office, this remarkable chapter in streaming service history has seemingly come to an end. With the entire slate of shows now officially canceled, we wanted to take this opportunity to review and celebrate its successes, while also taking a deeper look into where it all went wrong, as well as its ultimate cause of death.

FavianTube mainly Netflix didn’t want to pay for it all when they have other comic book rights of their own they bought from the creators and own. It’s gonna be way cheaper for them making shows based on those then having to grease Disney for the marvel stuff.

As much as this says its Netflix's fault Netflix was backing these shows whole heartedly. It more then likely is the fact Disney probably wanted way to much money for the rights to make more seasons. That number was probably increased aswell to the fact that Disney's releasing it's own streaming service.

The cancellation has nothing to do with the quality, it cancelled because Disney and Netflix couldn't agree into an agreement where Disney wanted to have 13 episodes per season but Netflix didn't want to put a long effort into it so they go'ed with 8 episodes, and Disney didn't want it as it wont adapt the Character, so they decided to cancel All Marvel's Netflix shows.

Honestly I think, despite what Disney said, Disney launching a streaming network is the only real reason Netflix cancelled. They knew that Disney probably wouldn't renew the shoes or at least would jack up the licensing fees once Disney + launched. But letting Netflix appear to fail benefits Disney as that can get the characters back easier since Netflix so t be renewing & Disney doesn't look like a bad guy taking shows away from Netflix.

Not gonna watch this obvious click-bait video. The show's were cancelled due to Disney starting their own streaming service. There's a 2 year cooldown on these characters before they'll have new shows (due to contracts), but the existing shows will remain on Netflix. Do your homework and fire whoever wrote the title for this. You guys are better than that.

Netflix canceled their Marvel shows because Disney owns the rights to Marvel and is actively trying to compete against Netflix because they are launching their own streaming service, that's why Marvel movies have been slowly being removed.

Not all of the shows failed. Iron Fist and the Defenders were not well executed, some of the shows felt a bit padded out in some seasons, so they could've benefitted from less episodes per season and, of course, Netflix wasn't going to help a future competitor by keeping their properties relevant when they can just produce their own content and help themselves instead.

They at least had a few easter eggs to connect to the MCU just not as big as Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter. Plus Daredevil had some of the best MCU actions scenes.

One of the reasons some of these failed - Jessica Jones, for example - is that they were not released on DVD... I loved Season 1 of JJ but the only way I could watch it here in Spain was... well, I couldn't. I'd have bought Season 2, just as I bought Season 1, but it was not available except as a stream... a blatant attempt to force me to buy episodes rather than the DVD.

Disney killed the series, had nothing to do with quality. Disney does not want to compete with its own self, I don't believe that Disney had no say in controlling their own IPs. Disney learned that lesson with Sony and Fox.

The only bad show was iron fist. Second season of Luke cage was okay, so was the second season of punisher. All three seasons of daredevil are great, and I expect it will be the same for Jessica Jones.

I was in denial about The Punisher's cancelation until it happened, didn't want The Punisher to get the axe, then the day the cancelation happened, the hour it happened I found a vid related to the cancelation with a comment section of Netflix users cancellating their accounts due to Punisher's cancelation, hopefully Hulu picks The Punisher and Daredevil up, and renews both series for a season 3 and 4 respectively.

Netflix Marvel series failed because fid not embrace the super hero part. People don't want to keep seeing the person behind the hero all the time. After a while, you must shiw the masked one more than its persona. And the series did not delivered that. You know, in the Defenders show, only Daredevil uses an uniform?

The writing was not compelling. Cage, Daredevil and Jessica Jones had good acting but the dragging out of plot each episode did not compel one to watch the next one. Iron Fist was boring and uninteresting. I think Jessica Jones should be continued.

Nightlan [I play OW] Netflix didn’t renew lol. Not disney. Disney is fine with being paid and having their show runners making the shows. Netflix doesn’t want to fit the bill for licensing and doesn’t want to distribute it. Because why would they when it just helps the competitor whose making their own streaming site and costs them too much money to be worth it. They own rights to other comic series so they didn’t renew. Don’t get it twisted. I’m mad at Disney too but Netflix pulled the contracts. Just facts. Disney and their abc show runners and the casts didn’t know Netflix would pull it all until they slowly started canceling one after the other.

The title of this video is seriously misleading. With the exception of Iron Fist all the Netflix Marvel titles were well received up to their cancellation. The cancellation has nothing to do with the quality of these show as the title seems to imply. On the contrary these shows were cancelled simply because Disney wants their property back to establish their own streaming service.

@@Idontexisthihi001 Jessica Jones was ok, the first season didn't get good until David Tennant was on screen more, season 2 was crap because of her sister (I forgot her name, does it start with a T or a P?). Daredevil was good, Punisher was good, Iron Fist was ok but not great (still haven't seen season 2, or season 2 of the Punisher), Luke Cage was okay but I much preferred season 2, the Bushwacker(?) was amazing, and the Defenders was about the same as Iron Fist for me. In my opinion a superhero show or movie is only as good as the villain, if the villain sucks the show/movie sucks, and the hero should also be good, but for me, it's usually the villain that makes or breaks it.

Disney had announced their streaming service since 5 years ago. Netflix executives just thought it would never come to light as it was taking so long, and then, bam, it's almost ready. Now the thing is the amount of content, including cartoons, animated movies, documentaries, live action movies, tv shows, Marvel, Star Wars, is gigantic, I don't think any other company has more content than Disney right now, and that's the best reason to create their own paid service.

@@bradtacs they aren't under contract to Netflix. That would mean that they have to star in X number of Netflix films, but Netflix doesn't do that. Once a show is cancelled, those actors can do whatever they want. They didn't quit the series. They were terminated, but that doesn't stop them from being the characters they portray because their contracts run through Marvel TV not Netflix. Netflix is just licensing the product.

Runaways on Hulu, Legion on FX, The Gifted on Fox, Cloak & Dagger (which actually references and is referenced in Luke Cage) on Freeform, Agents of SHIELD, Disney/Marvel has their content everywhere... Spread thin? Maybe they should cut a deal, supplying Netflix a contract that grants a 6 month delay on all content, so all current Netflix/Marvel Series can't air on Disney Streaming until 6 months after it has been up on Netflix AND 6 months after any Marvel Show has aired an episode (except maybe Hulu's Runaways, as Hulu is also a competing Streaming Service) Netflix is allowed to stream it.

It wasn't about quality, but more than likely about Disney and its streaming site going up later this year. If its true that Netflix cancelled them and not Disney then Disney+ has the ability to resurrect it on their streaming site and if not then bringing the characters into the MCU is also a possibility.

Iron Fist season 2 was actually pretty good, I know it could have been better but I actually enjoyed it. Not a lie but season 1 was bad acting and not so fun to watch. Daredevil season 1 was good. I liked how you slowly got to know Matt Murdock after you watched more and more. Season 2 was actually a bit better with the Punisher being put into it was very fun. Season 3 was the last and actually the least too. Though it was way better then season 1 of Iron Fist. Whole of The Punisher was very fun to watch. Season 2 had a sort of Logan kinda thing. Season one was fun to watch too. Overall The Punisher was pretty damn gangster to watch. I liked Luke Cage. Not something very special about it except that Pop died. That was pretty sad. Defenders was really good not a disappointment at all. I liked how it was put together. I haven’t watched Jessica Jones yet. Feminists I’m not offending women I just don’t have the time to watch it. Conclusion: I hate that Marvel cancelled there partnership with Marvel. The series will always be amazing, I think I might, when I have the time, watch some series again.

Personally, I really liked season 2 of Luke Cage, Jessica Jones was (of the single hero shows, not counting Defenders) was 4th for me, 1st was Daredevil (just barely), 2nd Punisher, 3rd Luke Cage, 4th Jessica Jones (David Tennant was by far the best part of that show, without him it would have sucked, but that's just my opinion), and 5th is Iron Fist, I kind of liked Sean Bean's character.
