In my opinion Nickelodeon didn't start going downhill until around 2010 I think 1990s-2008 were their golden years there were tons of good shows Nick had in the 2000s Invader Zim, Jimmy Nuetron, Fairly Odd Parents, Avatar The Last Airbender, Catscratch, My Life As A Teenage Robot, All Grown Up, El Tigre, Kappa Mikey, The X's, The Mighty B sadly a bunch of them were cancelled so soon and barely had a chance to shine.

@@kootunesscrewy I feel Nickelodeon could’ve been better if they released The Jungle Movie(Hey Arnold!’s grand finale) in December instead of airing it on the same day as Trolls:Holiday 5 years ago or put it on Netflix instead,it would’ve been more successful in ratings and they would’ve done more Nicktoon reboots and movies than giving up on them after the Jungle Movie’s disaster in tv ratings and dumping the Rocko and Zim movies on Netflix. Also,they should’ve give Harvey Beaks,Glitch Techs,and Welcome To The Wayne 3-5 seasons instead of 1-2. I still want Nick to recover from it’s never-ending obsession of screwing shows over and killing them off early on outside of SpongeBob and Loud House and turn Nicktoons back into a channel for both old and new Nicktoons reruns after NickRewind is dead,I still miss Angry Beavers,Jimmy Neutron,MLAATR,Danny Phantom,Catscratch(even if it’s creator is bad),El Tigre,and Mighty B! and Nick needs to make up for how they horribly treated them in the past with movies and reboots on Netflix and Paramount+ to give them a second chance or close their shows off and renew Glitch Techs for more seasons on Netflix or make Graphic Novels.

Like most late 90s to early 2000s kids, I don't think Nickelodeon started going downhill until 2009 or so, when shows like Jimmy Neutron were replaced with Fanboy & Chum Chum. (Well to be fair, JN was cancelled in 2006, and actually ended before it had the chance to become truly awful like Fairly Oddparents later seasons, Planet Sheen not withstanding.) The mid 2000s were actually some of my fondest memories with Nickelodeon, and I was one of the cool kids who had Nicktoons Network, so those classic 90s shows never truly went away.

I think Nickelodeon started slipping off the moment they decided it was OK for their executives to sexually assault the child actors. I can’t know about that but still pretend it was such a great show. And I think it’s a little weird that even after this shit as well no we still make it seem like this is a great kids network that support kids. Instead of a bunch of adults who paid on his kids financially sexually and otherwise. It’s like we’re endorsing the rape by pretending like it didn’t happen despite the fact that it’s well known. And the fact that it was sent to people who are kids at the time just makes it extra creepy. That’s why child rapist get away with raping kids. Because it’s so unpleasant that we rather pretend like it doesn’t happen in order to allow it to continue. So that way we can keep going on with her pleasant memories. I think that makes us rapists too.

Very informative video. I appreciate it. I'm a 00's kid (born in 1996) so I completely missed out on Nick's golden age, but I'm thankful that I caught the silver age just in time. The early 00's was the best time for the nicktoons imo, cuz you still had 90's debuting nicktoons on like Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Rocket Power, CatDog, Wild Thornberrys, etc. on airing at the same time as the early seasons of 00's nicktoons like Spongebob Squarepants, Fairly Odd Parents, Invader Zim, My Life As A Teenage Robot, Jimmy Neutron, Chalk Zone, etc. So that early 00's era of nicktoons for me was the greatest being about 4 to 8 years old at the time, plus, I was still young enough to enjoy Nick Jr. in its face era of amazing shows like Little Bill, Little Bear, Franklin, Maggie and the Ferocious Beast, Blue Clues, Dora the Explorer, etc. I agree that 2004 up to the first half 2005 was the major shift. That was the beginning of the end for the debuting nicktoons and it hasn't been the same ever since. It's crazy how all those nicktoons from the 90's ended in 2004, combined with the classic era of Spongebob ending in 2004 as well. Hell, even Cartoon Network and Toon Disney made drastic changes in 2004 (that's a whole another conversation). But back to Nick... Danny Phantom from 2004 and Avatar from 2005 were the tail end of the good nicktoons coming out. While you still had nicktoons from the earlier 00's on at the same time. Catscratch from 2005 was underrated, it really felt like the next Angry Beavers or CatDog... too bad it was short lived. Same with El Tigre from 2007 as well. But the vast majority of the nicktoons from late 2005 & onwards have either been cancelled too soon, huge failures or were just spinoffs of already existing properties. Loud House is the only iconic original nicktoon created after Avatar. That's why so many Paramount Plus shows are just remakes of already existing properties because so many of the nicktoons created in recent years have failed miserably. As far as the sitcoms go, Drake & Josh, Zoey 101, Ned's Declassified, iCarly, etc. were the highlights for me, when I was roughly 8 to 12 years old. I actually think the sitcoms from the mid to late 00's were an improvement from the late 90's to early 00's ones like Cousin Skeeter, Tiana, 2nd wave All That, Amanda Show, etc (which might be an unpopular opinion). I feel like only Kenan & Kel was the mount rushmore of that era. This was a time the nicktoons were going downhill (while there were still some good ones like Danny Phantom or Avatar) although the sitcoms were strong for me. Once Avatar ended in 2008 combined with the logo change in 2009, the network's been totally dead to me. iCarly and The Legend of Korra were all that was left for me past the logo change in 2009, while everything else has been trash ever since. But that's my perspective on Nickelodeon from me growing up in the 00's!

90s and 2000s were the golden age the 2010s fell off completely cause of shows ending like I Carly and victorious and Nickelodeon animation has gotten lazier because of SpongeBob being there biggest money maker. Nickelodeon made super great cartoons when growing up. Cartoon Network is my #1 childhood but also Nickelodeon too both my #1.

@@intellectualdigest6003 Fun fact did you the creator of SpongeBob Steven Hillenburg wanted to end the show after the first film but obviously Nickelodeon refuse to let go of there biggest cash maker so of course more SpongeBob. The first 3 seasons of SpongeBob were amazing but after the first film the rest of the seasons fell off. And there’s the SpongeBob universe that Hillenburg did not wanted for sure.

The rebrands of the big 3 kids channels from 2009-10 is what made them drop off. I think Nickelodeon never tanked, but our childhood did. Some people could make the same video on how The Thundermans, Sam & Cat, and Henry Danger was peak Nick or iCarly, Victorious, The Troop was peak Nick the same how you could say the same on All That, Ren & Stimpy, and Clarissa Explains It All. It’s just based on what we grew up on.
@intellectualdigest6003 Жыл бұрын
Yea everyone’s “peak” is different for sure. But i will say that OUR peak cartoons in the early/mid 2000’s is what most viewers revert back to when thinking prime Nickelodeon.

Sooo...did Nick at Nite START the 50s nostalgia era of the mid-late 80s or was it in RESPONSE to 50s nostalgia? Interestingly, the first Back to the Future movie went back to 1955 for that reason...AND correctly predicted in the second movie that by 2015, 80s nostalgia would be just as if not more popular.

I don't even watch Nick anymore. I hardly see any of the cartoons on there, all I see are those crappy sitcoms that are incredibly unfunny and unappealing to me. And I'm so pissed that some of my favorite cartoons have been canceled and have just plain DISAPPEARED from the channel. I remember a show called 'Dorg Van Dango' or something like that, I really liked the show and its art style. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, it completely disappeared. Same thing happened with Ollie's Backpack. I was so happy to see these new cartoons on a channel infested by unfunny sitcoms but soon disappeared without warning. Oh and my favorite retro cartoons are Danny Phantom, Jimmy Neutron, SpongeBob (earlier seasons) and Fairly Oddparents (earlier seasons)

One thing that got left out of this video is in the 20th century, Nick would air lots of classic kid friendly shows during the day like Dennis The Menace, Lassie, Patty Duke Show, and The Brady Bunch. Nick would air 30 minutes of a show and then move on to something else. The shows never got stale. In the 21st century, the classic shows were gone and Nick would air 2-3 hour blocks of the same show. When Nick-At- Nite began, they would air shows from 8PM-1AM, then reair the same shows from 1AM-6AM. In the late 2000s, Nick-At-Nite was airing shows that were not kid friendly or classic. There were many kid friendly shows in the 80s that seemed to have been skipped over. The programs got worse over time.

My earliest memories of Nickelodeon began in 2009. The network still had its fair share of mediocrity then (mostly due to how SpongeBob and iCarly were so overaired), but I would say that 2009-2011/2012 Nickelodeon was still somewhat pretty decent. 2013/2014 Nickelodeon was AWFUL! 2015-2017/2018 was OK. After that, I stopped watching. That’s why I prefer DC and CN.
