Sure, he wants to play against them in a revenge game. Also, it’s probably not just to make packers fans upset…he fits well in the KOC offense, gets to play with JJ, Minnesota is a great franchise to play for as reported by the NFLPA polling (1st last year, 2nd this year), doesn’t have to move across the country, stays in a division he’s familiar with, gets a chance to compete for RB1…I’m sure that there was more to it than just making the packers upset.

The Vikings' offensive line wasn't very good last year and definitely weren't as good as the Packers' offensive line. The Vikings RBs were hit in the backfield regularly last season. Jones is definitely an upgrade but the offensive line is the key.

And yet the Packers barely outrushed the Vikes 74 to 63 in their first meeting week 8 last season, Mattison 31 yards, Jones 29. The Vikes O Line was a bit better in a league context than many Vikes fans want to accept because of their underlying beliefs.

@@robe2504 Good point but the 2nd game was a completely different story. The Packers rushed for 177 yards while the Vikes had only 67. But here's another aspect of the conversation; eventhough the 2nd matchup ended with the Packers outgaining the Vikings by a large margin, Chandler avg 4 ypc and Mattison had 5.7 ypc. There was combined total of 13 rushes by the running backs. You have to run when you have that type of production. That falls on KOC. I think they need to upgrade the offensive line but I agree, it wasn't so bad that KOC needed to abandon the run as often as he did.

@@Jestin612 Was it that bad though? Chandler made 3 or 4 big runs that were called back for penalties. And they were trying to block for Mattison, and a better RB might have made more of the opportunities. I guess we'll see this season whether it was the Line or RBs last year.

Perfect situation for Jones, he doesn’t have to carry the load in the backfield. Ty Chandler and Jones is super nice. He’s also in a pass first offense, the offense will not run through Jones, it’s Jefferson.

If he stayed with the Packers it would have 100% been his last contract. Right there with ya'. Ted Brown toward the end of his Vikings career began the stretch of backs that had the talent BUT as the Vikings' overall plan to WIN was left lacking for. So. Long. It would seem that it was an unconscious question of "why?' to some of the Vikings backs (Smith, Foreman, and Petersen of course were OUTSTANDING in THEIR era-Bill Brown, Osborne, and Reed and Clint Jones in theirs....) then in the Vikings arsenal.
