I made this video to help you understand what to expect and to help you make the right decision for you because Tulum CAN be a great trip, it just depends on what you are expecting. Most people don’t realize what they’re in for. I don’t want you to be “most people”.

I agree with everything you have stated. It’s becoming more commercial and gentrified. The magic is wearing off but there are still beach clubs, restaurants and cenotes the masses have not discovered.

I would definitely recommend it. You are really missing out on so much, especially in Playa Del Carmen. AI food starts to taste so bland, like when on a cruise. And why would you wanna be cooped up in a nursing home in paradise?

Tulum does feel different. Feels like a money grab (similar to Vegas) everywhere you walk. Agree with pretty much all of your analysis. It is not the Tulum of early IG days (raw beauty, welcoming beaches, unique semi affordable eco boho chic boutiques). Tulum beaches are beautiful...but at what cost. Sidebar, Holbox is wonderful for 3 days. Would recommend anyone to visit. Mostly Euro tourists, so a nice switchup for USA/Canada tourist. ✌
