I agree with this because I've experienced having a 38' sailboat blown over a sandbar and the tide leaving her beached. It was 2 AM and the boat suddenly fell on her beam ends, while everyone on board, fell out of their warm berths and onto their cold asses. Not fun. The idea of cleaning the boat bottom by letting the tide pull the ocean back, sounds very cool too. And a cruising boat is not a racing machine and I don't give two sheetz if two keels slows my progress by two minutes per mile.

Sand bars are a pain for sailors. I really do like the confidence it’s gives me to watch the depth finder go down to nothing!

I always see a few boats a season get caught out by it. I saw a race boat slam straight into it with all the sails up. Surprised the keel didn’t rip off. Lovely looking boat by the way!

the tides are nasty in the UK ..... but most people can get by with better electronics ( tide prediction and a deep single keel i say )

Love your channel, Bro. I think two keels is definitely better where you are! That's what I find fascinating about Sailing channels all around the world on KZbin. We think your boat is awesome. Especially the steps to the deck.

It all depends in your cruising grounds. 2 keels are normally slow. It's all about sailing grounds abd Prefreces
@AlexGoesSailing
@AlexGoesSailing Жыл бұрын
I agree! Not noticeably slower unless you are racing and then you probably wouldn’t be getting a twin keel boat.

@@pauldickinson7108 well I guess you always want to go as fast as you can but if I was concerned about speed I’d just get a longer boat as that’s the biggest factor.
