THIS is backpacking! In the fall. In the Rockies. In the Wild! And every sight and moment is ours to behold! Skoki Loop Banff! (And I thought I was going to be disappointed!)
And I mean that! I always associated this trip with being a light and easy "Tourist trap" hike ... but boy was I wrong. Backpacking through the majestic Canadian Rockies in Banff National Park through the famous Skoki Valley to the Historic Skoki Backcountry Lodge, Merlin Meadows, Merlin Lake, Deception Pass and every other stop along the way was well worth every step on the path! And every step brought us more and more unceasingly gorgeous backpacking views!
Trips like this one answer the questions "Why should I start backpacking"
THIS is why I backpack!
THIS is what backpacking is all about!

@@BackcountryForward I've never been out West but it is on my list after this stuff finally settles down. The biggest mountain I have seen is Tremblant and the Rockies put that to shame.

Please do! On all counts! Honestly, I had pretty low expectations for this trip, but it really blew me away. If you ever come up here, I'd highly recommend Lake of the Falls. It'd be cool to do that with you and maybe a herd of cats some time!

This was such an amazing hike, glad we got to do it together! and those larches...STUNNING! Can’t wait to do more larch hikes, so sad larch season is so short and only comes once a year.

What’s the prep you did for this trip? And I mean like do you need to book your campsites? Any permits?
@BackcountryForward
@BackcountryForward 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, nearly all main backcountry sites and trails require permits in the provincial and national parks in Alberta. This is in the National Parks so you have to book it online. Unfortunately, it may already be booked full this summer. But, we went in September and it was very quiet.

@@BackcountryForward yeah man, I’ve never seen the backcountry this busy before to be honest. Will be sticking to hiking for now and maybe take our chances on the FCFS campsites around kananaskis. Even the one we planned this year, LM8 campsite is closed 😩for our backcountry trip. Not sure if we can make one this year🥲
