Gotta admit, I can see why Transformers came from it. The attention to detail and craftsmanship....Diaclone has my respect. I still prefer speaking giant robots, but this looks good

@@Mrbedtime_is_not_sleeping the toy that became Omega Supreme was originally from a manufacturer called Toybox, not Takara, but yes it was also a repurposed Japanese toy and was pretty similar to the bigger Diaclone toys in engineering. It was originally named Super Mechabot-1 by the manufacturer.

The toy that would eventually become G1 Omega Supreme was originally name SUPER CHANGE ROBO MECHABOT-1. You see Omega Supreme was one of several toys licensed by Hasbro from a company other than Takara. In this case, and in common with Sky Lynx, Omega Supreme was licensed by a company called Toybox. As a consequence, Omega Supreme was never released in Japan under the Transformers brand during the original 1980s run. It wasn't until Takara bought the Toybox Company did the G1 Omega Supreme was finally made available in Japanese markets.

I always liked Omega Supreme, but felt like his alt mode was lacking. It would be cool to see a reinvention of Omega that merged him with this Diaclone toy, plus whatever the upper half is, such that the entire titan is Omega Supreme and all the smaller bots are the "Omega Squadron," the upper and lower halves are surface fortresses/mobile ground crawlers each with "gerwalk/guardian" modes, and the entire system has an alt mode as a space battleship.

I know about Transformers being an amalgam of many brands I remember hearing about TOYBOX a long while ago. -But seeing "omega supreme" being parts of Diaclone here have somehow erased that tiny bit of data in my mind. Diaclone is currently manufactured in China, too. I think Transformers is hamstrung by excessive cost cutting. Yes, the current Diaclone is very expensive, but Hasbro's cost-cutting policy is extraordinary.
