Geese and ducks are a good combination, especially if they are raised together from the start. The geese guard the ducks and seriously deter aerial predators.

Cabella is such a sweet girl. I love how protective she is with Adler. I thought I should mention, that they say garlic is very poisonous to dogs, and maybe Cabella doesn't need to lick, or drink, from the garlic treatment. It might make her sick. I don't know if you've heard about this, and I could be wrong, but I thought I'd mention it, just in case. Your farm is so beautiful, and the animals are so sweet. 🐕❤

I saw Cabella was drinking the water that Chad had bailed out of the containers, and I was worried that it might be bad for her. I hope it doesn't make her sick. Not many people know how dangerous garlic can be for dogs. Cabella is such a sweet girl. I hope she didn't get any of the garlic.

Chad you can spread lime or wood ash around the perimeter of the chicken coop, yard and other high traffic areas for snake deterrent.

I don't blame you a bit for protecting your family. I use to live on a farm in Illinois and I shot them all the time to protect my Granddaughters. People can say what they want, most of the ones who complain live in the city and have never had to deal with them. You are doing the right thing!!

I love how Cabella kept stepping in front of Adler and leaning in on him so he couldn't move forward toward that snake. That is a great, loving dog! Chad, Adler's a smart kid, use the situation as a learning opportunity for your son, instead of teaching and reinforcing a fear-based response on his part. My father used to take me out upland bird hunting, we ran into rattlesnakes, gopher snakes, snapping turtles, etc., and other reptile species, I was maybe one or two years older than Adler. Those were amazing memories and I in turn passed that knowledge on to my son. I grew up understanding their part in the environment as a keystone species, they're great for rodent control, the less rodent population, the less four legged predators you may have. .

I have been subscribed for close to 3 years when you still had Adler Farm at your Mom and Dad's place. I fell in love with Adler then.
