Agree with all of this…but I’m 75 yrs old. Been evolving consciously for the past 34 yrs. Finally. We, if unaware, are truly only perceptions, emotions and opinions. I’m so grateful I finally came to understand…peace, gratitude and love is what matters. Tho I care for some kindhearted humans…my family…and have spent time with several non humans…I feel a deeper connection to non humans. Prefer their company….and the outside critters and the 2 stray cats I took in years ago…seem to prefer mine. I also talk to my plants ….all living things..nature…we’re all part of all of it. Been a caregiver all my life…alone…and there have been more non humans I’ve loved than humans..except for my human family members and some kind humans I’ve met along the way…..who also love all non humans..and nature. 💥💫✌🏻

How blessed are the younger people of today, who recognise the errors and folly of past generations. The creator of this channel, and those of his peers who think about these matters in the pursuit of understanding, will have contented lives, and will be spared the spinning madness. Some of us are older, and have been emotionally stunted by the trappings of this consumerist, 'progressive' world, and it is more difficult (but not impossible) to reverse unhealthy traits and thoughts. It is encouraging to see that there are younger folk, even today, who are critical thinkers, and not beholden to false narratives and presuppositions we swallowed whole. Well done to you.

interesting stuff. I agree with most of it, but I also think desire can be a force for good. people can invest a lot of work and effort into obtaining something they desire, which can indirectly help develop the human race. desires help us achieve our goals, even if we feel unfulfilled afterwards. then it's time to move on to the next thing. if everyone had decided they were happy and content centuries ago, then we'd still be living in caves. we certainly wouldn't be where we are now if we chose to rest on our laurels. I do agree that you shouldn't become a slave to desire, and I certainly think materialism is fool's gold. but a little dose of desire here and there can be good sometimes.

We can still achieve goals without desire, desire only clouds our intuition and means we achieve goals for the wrong reasons. Desire is set in psychological time, which means past and future, which don’t exist. This means we suffer as our attention is in the future, rather then the present moment. If we instead only focus on clock time, what we achieve is for the good, not for ourselves. We aren’t making up for a feeling of lack. Only without desire can we be truly selfless.

@@StanleyBetts2001 achieving goals for the wrong reasons is still achieving goals nevertheless. I do not think that desire is inherently bad. its scope reaches further than simply objects and people. the desire for love. for freedom. for family. these are all worth fighting for, and if they are partly motivated by desire, I see know issue in it. for me, a world without desire wouldn't be as good, nor as poetic. in fact, if I didn't have any desires, I would be depressed. having no desire is having no ambition. Humans run on desire. Here's a good quote I found: "There isn’t a moment when we are not fulfilling a desire. Scratching an itch, changing position, looking at a sunset. We constantly seek to make ourselves comfortable."

@@infelixscriptor3585 the age old question. John Stuart Mill writes, “It is better to be a human being dissatisfied than a pig satisfied; better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool satisfied.” Personal choice, I guess. I would rather be sadboi socrates in the modern world, but I certainly see the appeal of living an unenlightened, simple life in the B.C. wilderness.

@@videotrashmusic We can still achieve goals without desire. Achieving goals for the wrong reasons is a major problem. It means we are identified with the world of form. People that achieve goals for wealth and fame are living in an illusion, these things aren't infallible. If it is desire for these things that is the reason for achieving goals, then the goals themselves are destructive. If we tap into the consciousness that we all share, we can set goals that better ourselves, humanity and the world, without the destination, the achievement of the goal, being the focus of our attention. Desire means we miss the only thing that is real - the present moment. Goals are only useful insofar as they enhance our peace and joy in this moment. The desire for love is what I talk about in the video, it is what causes so much unhappiness. Instead of desiring love, give love. Be a beacon of love and peace, share your love with others and love will come to you without the need for desire. Desire suggests that where I will end up, where I arrive, will be better than now. This is a fallacy, as when you arrive you will be in the now. So make friends with the now, and there is no need for desire. Otherwise you are believing in the delusion that the future will bring you fulfilment. You can strive to be free, but ever moment you are not free there is still the possibility to be at peace. Surrender and desire isn't needed, set goals but don't cling to them. That's what creates desire. Desire for family suggests you want your family to enhance your sense of self. Don't desire them, but accept them and allow them to be. Desire = depression. If you desire, you aren't happy with where you are now. You are denying reality. This can only create misery.

@@StanleyBetts2001 I personally need a certain amount of desire and hunger to justify existing. if I am not working towards something - resting on my laurels - I become mentally restless. if you eliminate desire, you eliminate the desire to exist. also, if not for desire, then what drives ambition? or do you believe ambition to be a negative thing? living in the now is all very well, but you need to be aware of the future at least. I could start an unhealthy cocaine habit right now, and I'd be fine, today. somewhere down the line, however, it could kill me. should I ignore this danger because it's in the future, which is merely an illusion? I understand where you're coming from, and you raise some good points, but I do think your stance is a little extreme and may sound good in theory, but in the real world, constructed or not, won't always fly. living in the now is something that only very rich people have the privilege of doing. most of the world has to sacrifice the 'now' to be able to afford to feed their kids by the end of the day (which is in the future). the future IS the now and it'll come knocking on your door sooner or later so you best be prepared when it does. and what about hope? by your definition, hope = depression because it means you are unhappy with where you are now, but believe things will get better in the future. do you believe hope to be a toxic concept?
