Thank you for mentioning health as a possible reason for hair thinning! So many people don't ever mention this. Stress also. My SIL used to have a huge bald spot at the top of her head because of stress.

Mannn i remember when I used to put rubberbands at the root of my hair back before I understood why my locs wouldn't stay retwisted (because of a very poor stylist) and there was a point my dreads were thinning a bit to the root. Thankfully with just regular maintenance and care, vitamins it regained it's natural thickness. I do have a few that are still thin but they aren't like in danger of popping off like they were before.

Your locs are awesome.... I noticed that I have been slacking on moisturizing my locs.. I have gotten very lazy.. I have 1 loc that I believe is thinning in the middle of the length of the loc... so I have to start moisturizing more and I do wear my hair half up half down everyday so I bet that doesn’t help either..

Great observations! I hope new locers heed this advice. You are spot on!

Hi, my locs are just a month old, I started with instant locs and they are about two to three inches. I did my first “clean up” 4 days ago and I used black small rubber bands to hold each strand to separate the roots. My question is, should I stop using the rubber bands in the early phase or it’s ok for now?
