I used to not like turtlenecks but they are such a great layering piece to add for a closed or zipped up jacket.

As a frequent turtleneck wearer, I think they work best as layering pieces. I often invert the rule of thirds by wearing a long coat with a turtleneck that is tuckable. Also, used under a lot of blazers or even layered under a button down with just a bit visible for a pop of color. They can defintely look odd as a solitary layer. I totally agree re: slighly mismatched denim on denim. I struggled for a couple of years with an indigo jacket before finally landing some matching pants.

That’s definitely one of the best ways to wear them in my opinion

Great point about the sleeve sizing! I guess 1 difference with the rocker style is that the shirt sleeves pop out from under, making it look a bit more well fitted for me personally :)

Mock-necks work better for me. I usually fold them down half way so the neck is shorter. It's a great layering piece under a button-up and even a t-shirt where you get a contrasting color sitting right at the neck line. Elevates a look. I got the uniqlo-u mock-neck merino wool sweaters in the xxs to wear them almost like t-shirts under t-shirts, shirts and hoodies.

I prefer crew neck much more than turtleneck. But I don't agree turtleneck looks bad. It goes well with the coat and can protect the neck warm in winter. (Seoul is cold 🥶) Anyway Happy Christmas Harry!!! 🎄

Hello Harry, my name is Carlos and I’m from Spain… I’m a subscriber of your channel and been following your videos for a very long time. First of all I’d like to thank you for your effort and very good content in my opinion… Just wanted to say something about the “good fit looking” if a person follows the “rule of thirds”… My opinion is that “maybe” if you took that rule as a “more easy” way to look for a more balanced look (if that’s your thing) then you may minimize risks.. but if, for instance, you take a look to some modern looks of fashion like “Fear of God”, and not only that because you may say that FOG is an urban like style….. but for example one of the most reputable brands of luxury like “The Row” you can notice instantly that they rarely follow that “rule of thirds” and the looks are elegant and amazing….. The real deal is to understand that the fit on somebody else will not necessarily be how it will fits to you, but to play with proportions, textures and styles would be great if you know what fits to you. Thanks very much again for your videos Harry…
@HarryHas3 сағат бұрын
Thanks mate! Glad you like the videos. Fear of god are a brand who very much follow the rule of thirds. Not with all their fits but a lot. The Row do too. As I mention I. The video, it’s not the only way to do things, it’s just what I enjoy most of the time. I think people should do whatever works for them but I still don’t think the example photo I used was a well fitted look regardless. Happy holidays Carlos and thanks again

Regarding rule of thirds. 2/3 of my body measures exactly to my hip bone. I think a jacket in that length is a bit too short, it is unpractical for comfortable movement. I prefer to use the golden ratio which gives me a bit longer proportions (body length to shoulder/1.618= length from floor to bottom of jacket). I think Jacob's top is slightly longer than 1/3 and closer to the golden ration.
@HarryHas6 сағат бұрын
Whatever works for you. It doesn’t have to be exact anyway. I did mention the part of jacobs top that visually shortens it though
@pistolen875 сағат бұрын
@@HarryHas I usually wear a bit more oversized clothes and think that slightly longer jacket than 1/3 looks better on me. With a tighter fit, I think rules of thirds works better.

Sure Turtlenecks make my torso longer, but I am short and with broad shoulders everything looks too long on me, i just wear pants closer to my waist and tuck or just "fold in" my top (in this case a turtleneck). As you said I absolutely love them, i used to hate them but thy are a godsent in winter

I know what you mean with turtlenecks. I had this issue with "more" formal ones which are normally to long. When they sit kind of same lenth as your e.g. short leather jacket they can elevate your look quiet well. Elongating one body part is kind of great eg. shorter persons can appear taller when they style a more high waisted trousers / jeans.

UPDATED COMMENT. I was shocked when I once wore a thong, backwards. Was definitely not a good look. Commenting for laughs. Now going to view the video. Standby for an updated comment 😂 Update: Great tips. I’ll focus on the shoes. OG here, I’ve learned the hard lessons for you. So listen 🎧 🆙. Don’t wear cheap shoes. Avoid plastic shoes. Invest in shoes made of leather with a Goodyear welt. Why? Because cheap shoes will make your nice outfit look … cheap. People, especially women, always notice your shoes, after they look at your “package 📦.” You may have a nice package, but you aren’t going to close the sale with the honeys, if she is turned off by your 2 buck plastic dusty shoes.
