Great video, very useful! How about the eggs that are left in the lower bin? Do you leave the bins connected until all worms have hatched and moved to the upper bin or do you collect the eggs manually?

Thank you, I find most of the worms will move up bins, however there are always going to be a few cacoons and worms left you will have to move manually when you harvest you castings.

i have a whole lot worms in the bottom bin. I once manually picked them and dropped them in my second bin but they moved back to bottom bin. I noticed that they moved back to bottom bin after they explored my second bin. You see a few in second bin but mostly in the bottom bin. They do not hang around in second bin

Well sorry to hear that if that's what you want them to do. I find once my composting worms run out of food in the bottom bin most will crawl up to the next bin if there is new food in that bin. Some will stay in the bottom bin though no matter what I do, and like you I just pick them out and put them in the next bin up. Best of luck with your farm and thanks for watching the channel.😉

Can you tell me if coconut coir is necessary? I started farming worms and need more coir but I see that it is expensive! Thank you for any help!

Hey Terri, thank you for watching my channel! Nope you don't need coco coir at all, I just like to use it but it's not needed, strait free cardboard works just as well for bedding hope this helps!

That wire in the middle of the screen.... but great approach to a common problem

I agree. I have a new mic coming today. I may do an updated one without a wire as many like this video minus the wire. 👍Thank you for the support man!

They often drown. Last time its was a lot of death And IT SMELLED LIKE DMT. Wild. Im looking for a protocol to prevent that. They seem to do down. Not up ever. In nature they only go up if flooded it seems

@@elenoreswellanore I'm sorry to hear that, worms can last in\under water for a few days, mine seem to come up when I add some nice juicy fruit to the top of the bin, the sweet juicy water seems to attracted them to move up to fine more food to eat.
