The 12-team FIDE World Team Championship starts with the teams split into two groups, with the Top 4 teams after a round-robin qualifying for the quarterfinals. Matches are played over four boards, with 2 match points for a win and 1 for a draw.
The games are rapid, with 45 minutes for the entire game, plus a 10-second increment starting from move one. In the knockout stages two rapid matches are played. If the teams are still tied, they switch to 3+2 blitz and keep playing matches until we have a winner. Official website: worldteams.fide.com

It's the penalty kick where the ball caroms off the top of the goal - the goalie runs off-camera celebrating - and the ball (which picked up a weird spin and bounced so far back into play that it almost hit the kicker) slowly bounces in as the goalie realizes too late and tries to run back. I'd say the football equivalent is a penalty where the penalty taker completely fools the keeper by pausing in the run-up to the ball, then the keeper throws himself in the wrong corner, and the penalty taker somehow STILL shoots in the corner the keeper is laying helplessly, only for the keeper to somehow still let the ball in right past him.
