I've just watched Hacksaw Ridge and came here to see the man himself. The word hero gets thrown around a little too easily nowadays, this man is the textbook definition of a hero. Nice to see he went on to enjoy a happy life.

I'm an old, ordained, Baptist Minister. My mother and two younger sisters are sincere 7th Day Adventist and I would like to defend 7th Day Adventists. They do nothing, and believe nothing that would be in opposition to the Bible. Adventists are often maligned by ignorant people. I'll happily stick with the Baptists but would never insult or disparage their beliefs. The DAY will come for all of us to see Truth. This man is the epitome of what Jesus wanted for all of us.

A guy in the British Royal Air Force, stood 5ft 7inches and weighed about 10 stone. Skinny runt who his squadron believed would never be able to react in an emergency, because of the way he talked and his build. Going on board a navy ship, he and three others were badly injured when the gangway collapsed and they fell 30 feet into the harbour. Despite suffering multiple life threatening injuries, he supported one of the other victims until help arrived. They didn't think he was injured because he was swimming around and helping the girl. When his boss walked into hospital to see him he said, 'well done you proved us wrong'

I only met Desmond Doss once. He signed a small Bible for me that I expected to take with me when I entered military service. I never did. The Army said I wasn't physically fit enough. I'm almost sure that Mr. Doss didn't like being "honored". He accepted it as a way to encourage other young men to have the courage of their convictions. How sad that people who could be commenting on the value of courage and conviction choose instead to argue about jewelry! I'm also almost certain that Mr. Doss' convictions came from his own personal study of the Bible and his relationship with the same God who gave Daniel and his companions their courage--not from his affiliation with a religious organization. A true Christian's religion is personal--not institutional. I'm not in the habit of saying that a person is or isn't a Christian but, other than Jesus himself, can you think of anyone whose Christianity you would rather emulate than that of Mr. Doss?

A war hero unlike no other I have read or heard about that becomes a giant among them all. I saw Hacksaw Ridge last night and it is great movie. It doesn't portray his life or actions on Okinawa with 100% accuracy but than no movie ever does that. Andrew Garfield's role is convincing and powerful. The battle scenes are intense and graphic and the sound effects are epic. You can hear the sounds of bullets slamming into their targets, whatever that may be. It is a bit slow in the beginning as it develops background on Doss but once he enters the Army it grabs your attention and keeps it for the rest of the film. The theater was packed with only a few empty seats and the audience applauded when it ended. Go see this one.

hero, is not the word for this amazing man!!! he was so much more then a hero. I'm all but convinced, that we had a REAL LIFE PROPHET in a lifetime. it is SIMPLY NOT POSSIBLE, to run into the active face of death COUNTLESS TIMES, and come out uninjured. I never knew this man, but I can say without question, that I am love him like a brother. God blessed Desmond Doss, and we all owe him our love and respect.

Rangel Gamer Hack No he really wasn't, he saved those men on his own merit, just because he claimed god did it doesn't mean it's true. If i save some people and claim Zeus did it, would you think that that is proof of zeus' existence? Face it There is no evidence that there is a God.

Fed is probably the bravest man in our history! This program honored him in a beautiful way! Seeing those he served with and saved! You can see the joy in his heart as each one came out and shared their relationship! He is a legend of valor, honor,,bravery and faith!
