I keep getting caught following the wrong breaks and going for the field sprint... At least somehow I mostly avoid all the crashes around me!...

Great video and commentary! We rode around each other a lot and moved up at similar times all day, so great racing with you! I was the Rooks rider that crashed first with 1 to go. The angle is a little deceiving, but a rider from the outside line bombed corner one pretty hard. I made hard contact with him and shoved my elbow into his hip pretty hard to try to defend the line. It happened so fast at 33mph, I'm not sure I could have done anything different to save all of that wrecked without pushing the outside line into a crash. Good job out there and I hope everyone else that went down is healing well.

I would be so scared of breaking bones, especially something like a hip. Even in a not-old person, that damage can be permanent.

“Crit racing is one thing” Greg Lemond and Lance Armstrong said true athletic ability in cycling racing, is in road racing ,”stage racing” Time trialing, sprinting, climbing mountain passes, and descending. Crit racing is cool for short courses and good for spectators for sure.

I suppose that this wouldn't work, but I keep imagining, perhaps in a shorter race, a strategy in which somebody gets in front, then tries to block anyone who tries to attempt to pass. You know, like if you were allowed to have those little rear-view mirrors, you could try to move with their movements, so they can't get by. They'll keep trying to speed up, and thus will get tired.

ahah yes people do do this as a team strategy but it’s pretty frowned upon

Dude that big guy in the yellow dive bombing corners tried to put me into the barriers on the back straight when I rode up along side him in the masters race. Not sure what his goal was.

I'm watching the race now and don't see anything dangerous @7:02. He saw a gap and took it. It hardly moved anyone off their lines. I think the guy handled it just fine.

7:02 is totally fine, I didn’t put the dangerous stuff on the video because that’s not what the video is about and I didn’t want to give him the attention. you’ll just have to trust everyone that was in the race that he went overboard

@thespokeshow he raced today in the p/1/2’s in a course with virtually no corners. lastest about 10min 😅 divebombing cat. 2’s and 3’s can only get you so far. the pros won’t have any of that
