Good overview! Pertaining to the USB ports on the back of the keyboard, they are not specifically for charging devices, since the battery in the keyboard is low voltage and low capacity. It's there as a USB hub, to connect peripheral devices without having to go behind your desktop or laptop, which is why it has to be connected to work. There are no wireless hubs out there, since USB connections depend on speed and connectivity.
