Why is it that almost every home made over seems to have owners who have so much stuff the house looks like it needs a cull?! And why haven't the owners emptied the area to be done before they get there?

I am not keen on open shelving it can get cluttered really easily and with a family they will be using every corner of the kitchen, I lost it at the blinds if I was them I would save up to get better outcomes and put it towards cabinet fronts, handles, counters and/or appliances and make it not feel like a d.i.y.
