I mean honestly I can understand why he uses it. I'm pretty sure Liu Kang has no natural Overheads so all you have to do is block low. Normal grabs are too noticeable but the command grab is way faster and harder to react to. That way he can open the people up for combos because they would be trying to predict the grab by low ducking. It may be a bit cheesy but it's just the best option honestly.

Amazing king lao. One of the best Iv seen. Here is some criticism as another kunglao main. He uses a lot of meter randomly with no purpose. He also doesn’t take advantage of his strings once you’re in a combo. He should be doing 30%-40% damage when he gets you in a combo. Also I don’t see him utilizing the down down 4. It helps with spacing and can give a free combo 50% of the times. He also uses a lot of dead end strings. Strings that when finish leaves you open to get wrecked. He does have a lot of good strings and combo mix ups. Me personally I’m not a huge fan of the z hat string but it’s really good for pressure the canceling part all the time is more of a fancy use of it in my opinion. There’s better things you can do instead of using meter for that like using that meter to extend combos. None the less amazing vid. Would like to see more of that kunglao player

Thanks for the feedback and ninjakilla definitely made me respect a lot here, though I think you're missing the point of the cancel. The cancel is supposed to get my opponent to react to it and then I punish what they do. The cancel is unreactable so it causes my opponent to do only what they intrinsically know in turn allowing me to always get a solid base of thought for each read. That being said I did it too much here and needed to play more solid.

As much as I love MK, chip damage should not kill in 12. What’s the point of having great defense and actually blocking mixups and such if you’re just gonna die anyways? This game would be so much more intense if chip didn’t kill. Chip killing just takes the spark of the fight away.
