If anyone is interested, the Chinese Seerfish (Elopichthys bambusa) is also known as yellow-cheek carp , Kanyu or Bambus. They can grow to seven feet long and have sharp teeth like a barracuda. Believe it or not , they are actually related to goldfish!!!

@stevebrown54923 күн бұрын
Fish and fishes are both acceptable plural forms of fish. Fish is the more commonly used plural and can be used regardless of how many species are present. Fishes tends to be used as a plural when there are more than one species, especially in scientific settings. Considering Jeremy wade is a biologist (a type of scientist) it would make sense he used the plural "fishes" as there are multiple species of fish

Looks like hes fishing a stocked lake, a bit disappointing.
@moogle6822 күн бұрын
Yes, he is. However, he only resorted to this after something like over a month of trying in the target fish's wild, native habitat. The idea was that if he could just land the fish at all, even if artificially, he might gain some insight into how to catch it in the wild. There is also a theme in this episode of this fish being cursed, and that the curse is somehow real, and what is preventing him from catching it, so catching one even in a stocked lake would sort of dispel that paranoia he has at the time that the curse was real. Eventually, he did end up landing one of them in this artificial lake (iirc),and then at least encountered a real big one in the wild by diving in some rapids with a cam, showing it chilling under a big rock outcropping.

Fishing a stocked lake is kinda boring. Yup, you cheated.
@moogle6822 күн бұрын
He tried for many weeks in the wild. This was never intended to count as a success for him, it was just a means of breaking the paranoia he had developed about the curse of the fish being real (that it can't be caught or something). In the full episode he catches one here , and then goes out and finally finds one in the wild. It's an hour long show. Don't be a dumbass and make assumptions about the whole episode after watching a 5 minute clip.
@spencernelson570122 күн бұрын
