As a retired, driver, shunter and instructor, think about it logically. "There is no wrong way to do it" is just a hide behind answer to fend off a novice. Average truck driver spends 99.99% of their driving experience making judgements driving forwards. So what are the odds you will be equally proficient at going backwards? There is a much easier way to become "experienced" at reversing trailers. Especially with camera equipment at your disposal. Always pull out of a tight parking spot/bay as slowly as possible with the least amount of steering watching the pictures you see in both mirrors and outside all the time. So you build a mental picture of what "easiest" looks like. Then, when you go to reverse, creep back so you can replay the "pictures you learned" backwards in your mind. With today's ease of video recording and playback you can very soon build yourself a library of typical scenarios pulling out. Replay the video in slow motion backwards over and over till your eyes and brain are imprinted with what it looks like. Then if you start to stray off the easy line it is just a small correction to get back on track. That way you can "acquire years of reversing experience" in a very short time and "get your eye in". Never mind if you have an audience wondering why you go so slowly. Your ability and confidence will soon build so it becomes a natural flowing movement. NOBODY gets it perfect every time. Hope this helps. Let me know how you get on.
