The bottom line just needs to take things one step at a time. getting caught up with the end zone before the play has even run is going to get you into trouble every time.

What are some good ways to get leadership experience?

Unfortunately all the answers will also incorporate "time" so best to start on that early. Basically, anything can lead to leadership experience. Volunteering and eventually becoming some leader in the organization. Becoming a manager at work. Leading soldiers through exercises or drills in the military. For example, my leadership experience is running and leading a team of officials for a large card game tournament, mentoring other new officials outside and inside of events, and presenting educational seminars. I've been doing that for 8 years if you don't count 2020-2022. You should be looking to approach this as taking an interest in things that you like rather than trying to add something golden to your resume. And that takes time.
