Your culture is beautiful, I'm from IMO State but my mom is from Isiokpo in Ikwerre LGA Rivers state but I tell you our culture is 90% same my humble observation,
@francisdebrune56035 жыл бұрын
@@kennethdavid1107 😂😂 bro the name ikwere is Igbo language. You still wonder why the culture is almost the same? Simply because we are one brothers and sisters.
@kennethdavid11075 жыл бұрын
@@francisdebrune5603 Nwanne you are not far from the truth but my mom told me that the real name is Iwhuruoha and that's what erderly Ikwerres called themselves, the word Ikwerre is the Igbo word for Ikwerre or ikwerela, meaning do you agree? According to her, It was an Igbo interpreter who was mediating between Ikwerres and the British colonialists always asked them at end of every meeting, Ikwerre? And the British started using the name to identify Ikwerre people but I don't know who truth is it, and my grandparents parents from mom side said the same but I believe my mom got the information from her parents though,
@jeejee18365 жыл бұрын
@@kennethdavid1107 It is true. Iwhuruoha is originally from Benin. I can't go on to tell the whole story. However, we're still one no matter the history. I am from Ikwerre but I don't discriminate from the Igbos bcos we're close. We've common traditions. We understand Igbo perfectly. Although when we speak the deep Iwhuruoha Igbo don't understand but they understand some parts of Ikwerre. I believe in oneness because we're all Easterners. But what I don't like is when the Igbos try to Lord over the Ikwerres claiming that Ikwerre is Igbo. They need to respect a people's right and not make unnecessary claims.
@kennethdavid11075 жыл бұрын
@@jeejee1836 I absolutely agreed with you that Ikwerres reserved the right to identify themselves with whatever they chooses but you know as the american saying goes, that when it acts like it, walks like it, talks like it, looks like it then is it, Igbo people are well travelled and have been exposed to other cultures and meet Benin person and Ikwerre person every day and see no signs of any single similarities between them, so it's easy for an Igbo man to believe that Ikwerre Benin link is a conspiracy theories just to make them a distinct group from the larger Igbos and till now no archaeologist have backed the Ikwerre claims, today in Oguta in IMO State and Onitsha people in Anambra will tell you that they have cultural ties with the Benin kingdom but today they are proudly Igbos based on cultural, socially and linguistically and if you invite any group of experts in anthropology to make a pronouncement on this, the area they will concentrate to make any finding or results should be Ikwerre location, linguistics and culturally and everything will be pointing towards Igbo, me and some of my Ikwerre church members here in Europe talks about it sometimes and we laughed over it, the world is too small to harbour hatred for one another, stay safe bro,
