👉 Dimash sang Ikanaide (live and for the first time in Japanese) on the Tokyo Jazz Festival in 2021(in his studio). Because of the “pandemic”, the annual Tokyo Jazz Festival took place online again. Filmmakers verify that the videos have not been edited and manipulated, so the singer sings live. In 2020 Dimash also participated in the famous annual Tokyo Online Festival with 2 songs: * S.O.S. - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZWuinelprB_hpo * Samaltau - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXbcfayBjJKajbs The original song Ikanaide was composed in 1989 by Koji Tamaki (*1958) singer and songwriter, the lyrics come from one of his lyricists Goro Matsui. In the same year, the song was used as the theme song for a Chinese-Japanese television series Farewell, Lixianglan, about the Japanese woman Yoshiko Yamaguchi (*1920 - † 2014) a Chinese-born Japanese actress during World War II. She hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan and became famous in China. However, when the war was over and she revealed her identity, she was accused of being a spy. She was deported to Japan and longed for China. Ms. Yamaguchi did not return to China until many years as deputy environment minister in the Japanese parliament. The song is a metaphor as the lyrics speak of how a person should hide what they are feeling. Koji Tamaki sent a wonderful message to Dimash, thanking him, and praising him for singing his song in Japanese. Vbloggers, they reacted to the original by Koji Tamaki, they are mesmerized and can't stop listening to Koji Tamaki. He wrote many wonderful melodies - you should check it out: Koji Tamaki 2021, Ikanaide - kzbin.info/www/bejne/haHKn4BogsiWebM Dimash's Japan Fan Club asked the famous Japanese author of lyrics of 'Ikanaide' Goro Matsui about his emotions at Dimash performance. It's one of his favorite songs: "… I heard Dimash singing "Ikanaide" by accident. The first thing that impressed me was his crystal clear tone and expressive voice. I heard other Asian artists perform the song many times, but despite their magnificent vocal skills, none seemed to capture the true meaning of the original lyrics. In the chorus of the song, the line "Ah, Ikanaide" is repeated several times. And although these are the same words, each line has a different meaning. And it seems to me that Dimash felt it. " In 1993, Jacky Cheung (*1961, singer and actor in Hongkong) adapted the song into Chinese Mandarin, calling it Late Autumn: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqWwY3ipnK13aa8 The Chinese (Autuumn Strong) and Japanese (Ikanaide/ Please, Don’t Go) versions have completely different lyrics and meanings… and of course Dimash sings both very differently: - The Chinese version shows the image of leaves dancing in the autumn wind as a metaphor for the passage of time, a farewell and change...sad but inevitable and irrevocable - The Japanese version does not want to accept the loss of a loved one, is full of pain, begs, suffers... heartbreaking. I'm totally mesmerized by how sensitively Dimash differentiates and conveys to the listener the feelings of sadness and loneliness in the Chinese version and loss and pain in the Japanese version. Even his whispers and his breath are music... it breaks my heart and the tears flow... and at the end everyone suddenly holds their breath, we hear Dimash breathing, then a deep and comforting hum. I've never heard anything like that from other singers in my entire life. Only Dimash can do that. This is true mastery. * The most famous interpretation In China (first performance at the Singer 2017) was that of Dimash Qudaibergen and it was his first time to sing in Chinese mandarin: Autuumn Strong - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZ7MY5aMns-Xg9E This song brought Dimash the 'Best Foreign Singer' award at the Golden Melody Award 2017 (equivalent to the Grammy) in Hong Kong. * Great performance (Chinese version) of Dimash from Kiev 11.03.2020, the last concert before Corona paralyzed everything: Autumn Strong - kzbin.info/www/bejne/amSaenipea6NnKc * Other version by Dimash: In Moscow on March, 2019 - Autumn Strong - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5bag2t4pMhlZ6s (Thanks to all Dears who helped to complete the information)

I love your understanding about counter tenors and Dimash sounding different than them, many opprofessiinal on hearing a first part of sos or just a smidgeon of dimashs voice label him incorrectly because thipose are the rules, the laws of classical identifying voices and registers. But if he has control over every known register with full voice in all able to use every techicnique with every style he so chooses not limiting himself to the opera or classical as others have to then how can he be labeled. How can we limit this phenomenon to one category. You as an opera singing have heard many female sopranos. Dimash to my ear which can’t hardly some high registers and hard rock guitars love dimashs soorano. I think he has the most beautiful and pretty soprano I have ever heard. I learned to love opera from Dimash.i love his arias.i love his Ave Maria vocalization. There’s no way i could sit through that same number from a female opera singer. I know I’m not allowed to say that but there it is. My ears can’t take it. I’ve even heard him do the D8;which sometimes I can hear and sometimes not. He’s just this beautiful miracle that we in our lifetime are priveledged to hear.

You can teach and learn so much.. and you can practice 'til the cows come home.. and then all night.. for days.. and months... and years.. and you STILL wouldn't have what this man has. He has a gift inherited from beyond the stars.. an unearthly element that no one else has. Yes.. Dimash is very special indeed and there will not be another like him.. ever. Dimash lives on his high notes.. this is his kingdom come.. and his messages are priceless. His slavery is not to us.. but to his purpose and the creator who sent him. Where does his road go? Dolphins leap.. and men bow.. his essence will live 'til the end of time. Thank you.

This version "Ikanaide" (行かないで) ) is the original, from 1989, composed by Koji Tamaki (famous Japanese singer, born in 1958) with lyrics by Goro Matsui. The version "Autumn Strong" (Late Autumn), sung in Chinese, uses the same song, but has another lyrics (Yaqui Cheung, from 1993) and another theme: It talks about the Japanese actress Yoshiko Yamagushi, very dear to the Chinese, who was deported when they discovered her Japanese origin (his real name was Li Xiang Lan and we're talking about World War II, where Japan was China's enemy) and never returned to China. In the original version, the lyrics are more intimate, sentimental and more recognized worldwide. It means: "Please don't go!". You are so RIGHT. OPERA is the foundational support for all other genres of singing. As BALLET is the foundation for all other dance genres. And both are the most difficult of performance arts because they demand sublime technique and incorporate continual, physical refinement while attempting to conquer/master? demanding repertoires. And unlike musicians who can leave their instrument in a closet or hall, the Opera singer/Ballet artist takes their instrument with them and exposure to bad habits/addictions, environmental elements can reek havoc, damage or injury.

Music for the soul - as well as the ears. Such delicacy interspersed with such power. Such Mastery. Dimash says he regards his voice as just one instrument he brings 'in service of' the song - the storyline. And, yes, part of the reason why he's so engaging is he puts every fibre of his being into each and every note - and every breath between. It's not unusual to stop breathing whilst listening to Dimash, although it is a particular 'hazaard for other singers I find! 😅 Meanwhile, sending you Best Wishes. Get Well Soon! 🥰

Dimash's version of this song especially here is technically brilliant, as you said Nikoletta Dimash knows how to extract the most he can out of his vocal instrument. For me the ultimate version of the song was sung by Koji Tamaki which you can find here on KZbin from memory the specific perfomance I am thinking of was 'Koji Tamaki billboard classics PREMIUM SYMPHONIC CONCERT 2021' . Not to diminish Dimash's version of this song which is technically wonderful and I adore. But for me Koji's absolutely destroys me emotionally everytime I listen to it. The pain and anguish in singing the lyric 'Ikanaide' (English translation 'don't go') is just heart wrenching. The emotional hit is much harder. That being said I am so glad that you treated yourself to this outstanding performance by Dimash. Oh and the 'curse' at the end of your analysis had me laughing. 🤣

He's pretty much saying "Don't go!" the whole time! The lyrics are beautiful and there's a Kazakh version that the lyrics are soooo poetic, called Autumn Strong, truly an experience. The song was about a famous chinese actress that was discovered to be actually Japanese after WW2 and the govt deported her, so she and her lover singing the song never saw each other again! So, Dimash brings the full dimensions of emotions to this song! You did a wonderful reaction, thank you!

I suggest if you want to listen to one of the most unusual, spectacular, chill-inducing voices on this planet, you react to Diana Ankudinova. Suggest going to her KZbin site to access content to avoid copyright strikes. Maybe start with her cover of Cant Help Falling in Love when she was 18, on a Russian singing contest Show Mask Go On. Also her cover on Wicked Game and the folk song Rechenka (when she was 14). For something more recent, showing her growth in other areas, I suggest her duet with Brandon Stone The Day You. Many say she came down on the same spaceship as Dimash.

@Nikoletta…. I have a question. Why do many people refer to Dimash’s head voice as a falsetto? He doesn’t sound like other men when you can hear them flip into that fake high range. His voice sounds like a true soprano, actually better than a lot of female sopranos. Why refer to his high range as falsetto?
