I'm from Macon, GA, and I saw them many, many times. The lead singer, Ronnie Hammond, married one of my friends. "Imaginary Lover" {never lets you down} is one of their greatest.

Yes, definitely. I was a kid when this came out. I heard this song on Rock radio. Strangely, lived around the corner from a Black radio station. I asked a DJ if they had this song. He initially said no, but they actually did. The label sent it in a plain white sleeve and white label. I told him to check it out and play it. He did, and locally it became very popular on Black radio. The same would happen with Pablo Cruise "Whatcha Gonna Do?" Great music knows no boundaries!!

This song always gives me goose bumps,it was written by Robert Nix(the drummer for ARS)about Leslie Hawkins.She was one of the Honkettes,a trio of women who sang for Lynyrd Skynyrd.Nix saw her for the first time just as the song describes and instantly fell in love with Hawkins,who was stunningly beautiful and remains so till this day,well into her 70's.

ARS has some great songs. Their cover of "Spooky" (Classics IV) is fantastic. "Imaginary Lover" and "I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight" are also fire.

Oh the memories, high school, mad crush on a certain guy, dancing in my room at night while hugging my pillow to this song, imagining fevered teenage hormone things going on with this fantasy guy and me...ha!! He never knew I existed, sigh, but strangely it's still a great memory cause Lord, what a good song.
