What i used to do, is stitch some elastic to each gloves, long enough for my wingspan then thread it through my sleeves and coat so that when i take them off they just dangle. Well when i say i stitched, i mean my mum, and when i say i used to, i was 3 years old.

Decades ago, when I was a member of a USAR-Team, I was sick and tired of the gloves we have been issued and I bought some nice leather gloves for firefighters. The man who sold me the gloves was a firefighter and told me exactly what you are showing here. Well - I could only get another brand, not obenauf's. The trick I was told was to watch a nice movie, take a lot of product and really work it in buy wearing the gloves and massage the product in as if you where washing your hands. Let them sit for a week or so and do the same thing again. After that treatment the gloves where nearly watertight (grabbing something out of water or hours of rainstorm) and still breathable and therefore comfortable even in really hot conditions. But the best thing was that the gloves became so "tactile" that you could write with them and tools did not slide out of the hands anymore.

@@MB12116 Hi Mack. Do you mean the "Aksel" Work Gloves? I found these on ORs website and I guess they are the ones you are talking about. I would definitly give it a try. I never owned those gloves so I can NOT speak from experience with this exact product. Just use good judgement of how much product to apply in one "session", believe me, you will see and feel it when the leather can't take anymore. Please keep in mind that any other color than black will most likely get darker. Be carefull, there are leather care products out there that just ad a layer of "chemicals" on the outside. Instead use a product with (mostly) natural ingrediants that "nourish" the leather as if it was still on the animal - sounds crazy but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say (I wish my english was better).

Sow a retention strap or loop on them. Having a piece of metal against your skin in that location is ridiculously dangerous, especially if you're dealing with heat, or impact. This is an infuriatingly stupid modification to make just to prevent losing gloves. Gloves are cheap, stuff an extra pair in your backpack if stitching or getting someone with a sewing machine is too difficult for you to achieve. DO NOT put a piece of unknown metal with unknown coatings on it. That will transfer heat, and impacts, right into your wrist and could be the difference between a minor injury and serious injury all because you didn't want to lose a bloody glove or throw some stitches in it.

Your choice about only buying the best is spot on. I grew up among the truly self made upper middle class and our way of life was, buy the best because you really can't afford to buy it twice. (in the rhetorical sense) We never owned many things, so our homes were uncluttered. But what we had was of value. We often chose experiences over things. People over self aggrandizement. I miss it. Slowly working back toward that lifestyle.

Why don’t the manufacturers do this? Gloves available “with or without” grommets. You should patent this, if it hasn’t been already. Altering and defacing a PPE is best avoided. You can slap a glove strap with a piece of string made into a loop. Just take the loop to secure the gloves with the aptly named "strap hitch", finish the tie by warping the string around the gloves a couple times then tuck in the rest of the string, now the thing can be hanged anywhere. Common sense or what. Do we need a strap hitch degree or what. I mean people seems to be like "hurr durr can't strap mah gloves cuz forgot to buy a glove strap on amazon". Then you can also buy or make a small cobra buckle glove strap that's faster to use but yeah, just strap hitch the damn gloves otherwise.

I don't trust any "all natural" products that don't list ingredients. Most of the worst poisons in the world are all natural. It is a shame some of these companies don't disclose their "secret recipes." I for one would be happy to purchase these types of products if those ingredients were listed, however, since they are not I am forced to make my own. Oh well, I guess I am saving money but I'd rather spend my time on other tasks. Not a big deal for everyone, but considering my gloves are used mostly for outdoor recreation which involves catching, cooking, and eating, I don't need my hands covered in question marks.

I know this is an older video. But what gloves are these? I just lost my gloves today and I remember see this video a while ago, so I found it and rewatched it. I am going to do all this so I dont loose the gloves again. But you did not mention the brand etc. Do you still use the same brand?

Got high temp mystik red on my gloves by accident. Gloves got dirty as heck and smelled like greese for about a week but they’ve lasted longer and been the most pliable gloves I’ve ever had.

I dig the idea of only having one of each item. For me having one special pen works great, I always know where it is. Great video!

I’m not personally a fan of the grommets but I simply don’t understand all the comments regarding burns from fires heating the grommets. Even for firefighters.

Leather gloves are great, until you get them wet... This oiling may help for most gloves but you're better off with synthetic rubber grippers when its wet.

C. S. Osborne still makes the same leather grommet setter and even the punch in a variety of sizes. I apply conditioner to my leather gloves by first putting them on, then applying it like I am washing my hands. gets every inch of the gloves nicely

I like to buy Kinco leather gloves. I punch a small round hole on the inside of the glove and make a loop out of 2mm cord so I can hang them on my belt loop or bag with a bearer.

Rotate two pairs of gloves. Each pair of the gloves life should be extended longer than if you just used one pair.

Only time I wear gloves is in the dead cold of winter and having to pack rebar. I just wear military surplus wool glove liners then and they work fine for not getting your hand stuck to metal. Been doing concrete construction for a long time and there is no other time I wear gloves

Maybe someone commented but letting the grease soak in a couple day results in the gloves being dry to the touch, nd not greasy.

11:15 "I also like the fact that it's an all natural." I hear this a lot. Sometimes, I say it, too. Rattlesnakes, poison ivy, death angel mushrooms -- all natural. Arsenic - an all natural element. UV rays. You get the idea.
