What i used to do, is stitch some elastic to each gloves, long enough for my wingspan then thread it through my sleeves and coat so that when i take them off they just dangle. Well when i say i stitched, i mean my mum, and when i say i used to, i was 3 years old.

My Dad sold Wells Lamont gloves for 30+ years. I can remember him talking to me about changes over the years. “Stubborn about quality” was their slogan back in the day. They still have some decent products but as often happens I believe they’ve also made some compromises. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know hearing you talk about them got me all nostalgic. Your choice about only buying the best is spot on. I grew up among the truly self made upper middle class and our way of life was, buy the best because you really can't afford to buy it twice. (in the rhetorical sense) We never owned many things, so our homes were uncluttered. But what we had was of value. We often chose experiences over things. People over self aggrandizement. I miss it. Slowly working back toward that lifestyle.

This is the second time I have watched this video and I had completely forgotten about the gloves because of watching the end of your video on the New Year’s party with all the fun you folks had with Jack’s nice fire display outside your home for lighting up your driveway and the wonderful games with the kids that I enjoy so much but I want to check out the gloves with the grommets that you added for carrying them around! Thank you for sharing this important information about taking care of your gloves. I wish I would have taken better care of a special care of my first garden gloves because they were a gift from my daughter and her husband as a Mothers Day gift. They also had roses sown into them. The longer style was perfect for pruning my roses! A lesson learned from this video Cody! Thank you very much Sir.👍

Decades ago, when I was a member of a USAR-Team, I was sick and tired of the gloves we have been issued and I bought some nice leather gloves for firefighters. The man who sold me the gloves was a firefighter and told me exactly what you are showing here. Well - I could only get another brand, not obenauf's. The trick I was told was to watch a nice movie, take a lot of product and really work it in buy wearing the gloves and massage the product in as if you where washing your hands. Let them sit for a week or so and do the same thing again. After that treatment the gloves where nearly watertight (grabbing something out of water or hours of rainstorm) and still breathable and therefore comfortable even in really hot conditions. But the best thing was that the gloves became so "tactile" that you could write with them and tools did not slide out of the hands anymore.

@@MB12116 Hi Mack. Do you mean the "Aksel" Work Gloves? I found these on ORs website and I guess they are the ones you are talking about. I would definitly give it a try. I never owned those gloves so I can NOT speak from experience with this exact product. Just use good judgement of how much product to apply in one "session", believe me, you will see and feel it when the leather can't take anymore. Please keep in mind that any other color than black will most likely get darker. Be carefull, there are leather care products out there that just ad a layer of "chemicals" on the outside. Instead use a product with (mostly) natural ingrediants that "nourish" the leather as if it was still on the animal - sounds crazy but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say (I wish my english was better).

The tools may not be available to everybody, but if you have them, an arbor press or hydraulic press makes a much more precision hole than hitting the punch with a hammer (if just a bit less satisfying). When you do your bathroom floor make sure it slopes down toward the drain holes. Sounds obvious but I have a bathroom floor where the drain hole is in the highest part of the floor and the floor slopes down toward the walls and door. When the floor gets wet (as happens in bathrooms) the water accumulates next to the walls 1/2 inch deep and flows out the door into the hallway and then into the laundry. It is a real pain in the neck. A extra bit of effort when laying the floor could have saved countless amounts of time with a mop and bucket that happens on a recurring basis, not to mention potential damage to the walls. Best wishes for your renovation.
