honestly i think using something like this for horror games could be awesome for example: if you go to the pause menu or tab out, then the game could play a quiet shepherds tone, and put a veryyyyy faint face on your screen until you go back in, and if you leave the game, it plays whispers for a couple seconds, that way it can actually be kinda creepy without being obnoxious at the same time (also the example was inspired by a game that flamingo played which also put a face on the players screen if they tabbed out)

Yeah, I have really bad memories with loud noises and loud noises always trigger me or send me into a panic. When I encountered this technique in a game I had to do everything in my power to immediately leave, I almost cried because it scared me that bad. You don't usually expect a happy go-lucky game to jumpscare you for leaving.

Rooms Reopened has one of these things, and it's not trash. when you are in the roblox menu while you're traversing the incomprehensible horrors of the A section, it says "KEEP GOING, COWARD" the text doesn't have any of those absurd sounds. for more context, rooms reopened is a rooms fangame where you open doors in an adbandoned office and hide from anomalies.

Have you tried the advanced side of obbies? Most professional obbyists reside in JToH which was the game that inspired tower of hell. The game has around 400 towers with some of them being themed like a skyscraper or horror. (It could take upwards of 1000 hours to fully beat JToH btw)
