I could never wrap my mind around this being such an obscure work. It's strange to think something like this has went below the radar of so many, especially considering the amazing art and the global pandemic angle that got pretty damn relevant and relatable a few years back. I'm constantly surprised by it's continued obscurity. It's hardly a perfect story, but I don't understand why it feels like no one has actually read it...

Definitely one of my all time favorite Sci-fi stories. I just love how realistic the future they depict in this story is. Also all of the characters are so interesting and unique. Although I will say the ending made me want more from it. I do feel they could have explored and done more with multiple characters. Especially with Elijah Ballard. Other than that... It is one of the best Sci-fi manga I have ever read. Up there with Blame! and Gantz.

He was actually exactly what I expected and I was very happy about it. I think dystopian manga I understood after Eden, he has reactions from certain characters that you see is someone written by a Japanese, but there are dialogues that I didn't expect to be the way they are, most of the time this work addresses complicated themes and makes complicated characters that seem to match their country of origin, seeing Brazil mentioned in the story brought a smile to my face although my country and no country here is good, the biggest hit for me in this work after the protagonist. Which is the fact that this world is a futuristic dystopia, but it's not because of the virus, you find out that this apocalyptic disease didn't eliminate even a thousand people right, it just did something worse than it was opening up the criminality and broken governments of our world is the most realistic dystopia for me, because there was nothing big, what happened was the change of who is in charge of the world and that for make me this manga cool.

For me it changed a lot between mid and pretty cool. Liked the action scenes. Though the characters weren't all that interesting to me and I didn't care too much about the worlds politics. Also it's very hedonistic/nihilistic with sex, alchohol and drugs. That kind of environment and characters are just uninteresting to me. Kenji definitely became my favorite over time. From what i've heard most people didn't like the ending but that was probably my favorite part. Very cool concept and it made sense in a wierd way. It definitely made the series memorable. Overall it's a 6/10 personally. Quite a chore at times but it does have some positives. Would be cool to see it animated one day.

What I liked most about Eden is the protagonist, it's not an innovative journey, it's a kid who is at the mercy of a world where nobody cares if he's a child, the journey of the Elijah the "whorehouse" arc which is my favorite bow, you see a 15 year old kid getting more and more dehumanized and a prostitute being her moral compass and his comfort, it's a very uncomfortable and extremely human and well written arc. The problem for me is that after the Slice of Life after the villain's death I think Eden lost strength for me, when he starts to get too much in science fiction in the conscious virus I dropped it, they kill a character that marked me too much in the brothel arc and lost much of its strength for that, in addition to finding the author's art functional, it has beautiful panels, but it is very much Akira's creation, but without the appeal of rendering and graphic narrative of the Otomo.

yeah.... if characters are the sole thing driving you to keep reading then rip lol. i feel your pain... but personally i was so intrigued by the colloid development and the politics and the sci fi explanations to everything that i can forget about the characters for a while and just follow the major conflocts until another major character is focused on again. a big part of why i love this so much is the brutality and how no character feels truly safe. itfits the world perfectly IMO.

Kinda annoying that the whole major character deaths started to become a pattern after two to three deaths. SPOILERS…. It’s always the main male characters bonding strongly with other female characters, and when the current plot starts to gain closure, the female characters died at the last minute. With that said, I’m sure you finally realized what all of the major deaths have in common. In fact, the last female character didn’t die because the main male character decided to say, “Fuck this,” to the main story and got himself addicted to heroin. I’m not trying to be funny here, it’s actually a really tragic story.
