It can (and often does) prey on just about anything it wants, which is why it is known as The Extinction Dragon... It is later shown to be nature's way of getting rid of monsters that grow too powerful, when they reach the point where they start to ravage the ecosystem, Nergigante instinctively goes to that monster and hunts it down!
