****
Abandoned mines contain dangers for which equipment and training are required. Hazards can include false floors, open shafts, low oxygen, poisonous gases, collapsing or rotten structures, explosives, flood risks, bacterial infection and of course, rock falls. NEVER enter alone, ALWAYS thoroughly research your destination, ALWAYS alert a third party to your plans and timings. STAY OUT, STAY ALIVE.
This video SHOULD NOT be considered instructional or used for navigation within this mine. Video is for historical documentation and entertainment only.

'54' Well another brilliant video and incredible how that roof is defying gravity! Can't thankyou enough for risking your lives to show us all these true amazing places. You must feel very special to go somewhere knowing that nobody has stood where you are for many many years. I really enjoyed Peters firework display 👍👍👍

54 - Awesome explore through some very dodgy looking areas. I am not suprised how bad the air is in there with the amount of rotting wood that is laying around.👍

As kids we would go down the old ironstone mines around Guisborough didn't have fancy safety gear went until we struggled to breathe the last time I went in with a friend in the 70s the roof started collapsing never again.

Yes, the air in ironstone mines can drop rapidly as we have experienced a few times. Not had anything collapse on us yet, but we are very careful at worming our way through.

54! I didn't face the issue of air quality when I was exploring mines; we mostly used to go into slate mines so a lot less concern about oxygen being consumed by ores because there wasn't any! I say mostly because the first mine I explored was actually a coal mine! 😮 I didn't know about the risk with low oxygen at the time, but thankfully the guys that were leading us were much more aware!

Yes, lucky they were :). Don’t know of air issues vs in slate mines.

Seems to be a lot of really lingering colds around at the moment. Good idea with the fans and a credit to the landowner. Is it worth you trying to attach some ducting to direct the air to where you want to explore?
@UKAbandonedMineExplores
@UKAbandonedMineExplores 7 күн бұрын
That time of year :(. We could do, but would need a lot of ducting, it's a long way.
