Interesting, because when I played DS2 I noticed that the movement felt much more "digital" like playing with an old joystick on a C64. I still liked DS2 because I got used to this movement, but it never felt as polished as DS1. When I finished DS1 the first time, I immediately started over. When I finished DS2 I felt a bit saturated and moved on.

Ds2 is also an extra long game compared to 1 and 3, but I 100% agree with you on the more old school feel of the movements. I personally love the game, and this give me another excuse to play it again!

This system is why people love DS2. Once you learn the 8-direction movement system, you can really screw up monsters. Don't install it if you haven't played DS2 yet. Try it with native design first.

Because people love fromsoft and ride on them and shun those who critize them, DS3, Demons remaster and also Elden Ring. Have major issues, but its super taboo to critize their games so they just keep making weird design choices. Why in Elden Ring, rotating spells still uses a one way button with no way of going back, not select specific ones, even Code Vain did this better, also why is the netcode in ER still as bad as Demon and DS?

Thanks so much for the heads up! Played through Sekiro, Elden Ring, then Dark Souls 1, and finally made it to the red-headed stepchild. Was grabbing other mods and stumbled across your video and holy cow, is this mod a godsend. Cludgy and clunky are perfect descriptors for how the game felt before. Now it's like I put on an old set of comfortable shoes. :D

"If you play with mouse & keyboard your experience was fine" Well you have no idea how wrong you are XD. If you don't disable double clicking you have an input lag of around 0.5s for your attacking & if you tried to do multiple attacks they sometimes get ignored. Now the fun part is that you can disable this shitty option, but if you reload the game it gets reset.

My friend who introduced me to the series never told me about this thing and adaptability thing too cuz he never knew about it as well. I've barely beat it but never came back to it unlike other titles. I feel like it's a good time to give this game another go. I think remaking lots of cluncky animations that just feels weird will be too much work for modders, tho in few more steps like this it would make a game legit remaster done right.

They are working on inputting animations from ds3 into ds2 so it’s not as far fetched as you think. Def gonna be do another playthrough of this with the mod soon.

5:07 actually even the M&K format of ds2 is shit when compared to ds1 and ds3. ds2 is the only souls like I actually used a controller due to it being almost completely impossible on M&K with its janky key binds.

Controller peasants ! WASD for movement, XCFR for Item slots, QE for accept,enter, IJKL for camera, HU for light/heavy attack, TAB - for parry, space for running and jumping, ALT for dualwield., G for gestures obviously pointing at poor console and controller users ! If you got into steam controller settings there should be a PlayStation support check box. Dumb it isn’t on by default, but atleast there is the option

Just use a community layout for the deadzone fix. This mod can get you soft banned anyway. There was one for the og years ago and they put out official responses confirming it would softban you

No it does not, but it should make that mechanic feel less awkward by having more control over aiming the attacks

Ds1 has the radial dead zones when not locked, but it will always have the 8 way lock on movement unfortunately.

Old deadzones really worked in favor of any ultra greatswords jumping attack imo. I find myself missing the limited control of the jumping attacks in ds2 when I replay ds3 and end up missing half my jumping attacks.

Years ago before SoTFS was released some redditor posted a screenshot of the official support team saying deadzone mods will get you soft banned. Just use the steam input community layout deadzone fix.
