This Mod Makes Turbos Scream | RX7 Street Build EP 1

I have finally started the build and refresh on my Mazda RX-7 and it is only possible because of the support I get from you guys!
Today we are doing the basic first step in modifying a car, and that is adding an air intake system! I have a lot of choices to choose from, but I went the best selling intake for stock turbos and were shocked with the results.

At least you're using something manageable to get those clamps off. Usually I just try to tell myself that the pliers are too far away and I'll just use my hands. The trouble is that it _kinda_ works but it takes longer than it would have if you had just got the damn pliers. But you don't know that until later, haha

You should keep some plastic bags on the side so you can toss the bolts in or anything else. This came out clean.

Comparing the roughed-in filter to the ones on the diagram it almost looks like that lower cone needs to come forward, or the top needs to go back. Probably the bottom one coming forward since the top is on the bracket. The way you held the bracket looks right to me, though!

is it safe to run those on stock FD without a tune? I know if you change the exhaust or down pipe bare minimum you'd need an apexi power FC or you'll run into major issues.

These a nice intakes but take my input with a grain of salt. I'm not particularly a fan of these intakes because it's being heat soaked in the engine bay heat and air being pulled off from the electric fan. However every mod isn't all gains. Every mod has a give and take. Ideally it's good to keep intake temperatures low on intercooler and intake side to help prevent pre detonation. If your fd is stock like mentioned in the video. It shouldn't change too much. You will build more boost this way, hear the turbos spool and also be able to work on the FD a little easier. Kindly be mindful if you decide to remove the catalyst or pre catalyst you will experience upboost or overboosting. Which can destroy your engine from lack of fuel. It's all a balance one needs to consider when modifying turbo rotary. Turbo rotary is a bit more sensitive to change when compared to non turbo. Enjoy the fruits of your work and have fun driving. 👍
