Finally, after years and years of struggle, someone who can explain where all my power leak is coming from and the correct way to transition. Hundreds of teachers on KZbin and none teach this. Maybe some do but not in words you can understand.

Sorry to jump on but I tried it as I watched the video as I have clubs and a mat in my home. This video and your very clear explanation has been a eureka moment for me. It timed my swing up in such a way that even at 100 percent I feel very balanced with a good finish. I never would have believed it as my thinking was always that my weight needed to be shifted before I reached top of back swing. Without measuring yet, I can tell my club head speed through the ball is faster, but more importantly my balance and stability are much better. Thank you so much, my swing feels so much more repeatable now. Excellent teaching.

Yes, although I don't have the training aids. My tendency in the past has been to over rotate my shoulders. I do think there is a pressure board in my future.

I feel like my hips arms and hands are out if synch. Ball contact is not clean. Not hitting ball then turf. Lots of inconsistencies.

Eye opener. So one does have to bounce off the inseam of the trail foot then? I think I do a bit of that with driver, but with my irons I just load the front leg at P4 and the trail foot/knee just gets pulled along in the rotation. Finally my trail foot spikes can have a role now in the downswing :-) - I'll try it out. Or, perhaps I am one that can handle that disassociation you mention down in the comments? I guess I will find out

Hi thanks for commenting with your thoughts, and with regards to what you're speaking about it depends like you say wether you can separate the upper and lower body enough to make the hips firing work, but either way the hips need to fire away (rotate) as opposed to shifting. But i would definitely recommended giving this a try.

The mother (amma) of all drills in golf. The lateral movement in the downswing could be a recipe for a disaster as advised by so many trainers ?
@harryshawgolf
@harryshawgolf 23 күн бұрын
@babaagha1 depends how you utilise this, if you do this properly, as the body extends upwards the club pushes down to the golf ball. Ensuring a good strike.

Enormous fan of yours but if you would...I'm confused. Pressure plates show 99% of tour players shift pressure to lead side at approximately halfway through backswing (or slightly past halfway). This contradicts what you are saying in this video. Would you please explain because this is a major issue for most of us
@harryshawgolf
@harryshawgolf 9 ай бұрын
Hi Mark, thanks for commenting with your very good question. So for the majority of golfers it's very difficult for us to get separation between the lower and upper body to take place (disassociation). To be able to add pressure back onto the lead side during half way back in the backswing requires a lot of flexibility and the ability to disassociate the lower and upper body. In a few of my recent videos i do talk about this. But if you're someone who has really good disassociation then this will work for you. Check out this video... kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKObqIJnrtx_rZI

I have recorded many pros on the range (at Valspar) and watch KZbin videos of pros and I never see their head move forward until after their hands are around shoulder level after hitting the ball. Their head usually moves up and back slightly through impact with both woods and irons. Your head is moving forward through impact. Why would you teach something different? Are amateur swings supposed to be different than pros?
@harryshawgolf
@harryshawgolf 9 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for commenting with your very good question. So regarding the head movement/ upper body movement when initiating the downswing it's important to note that these tour players have incredible flexibility and mobility levels, so if you're someone who can do this 'head moving forward until after the hands are around shoulder level' then great however, this move isn't going to be the best option for a player who may be slightly older, less flexible and mobile. So this move here helps' give you more time during the downswing to set the club in a more reliable position. If this type of golfer tried really firing the hips and keeping the head behind more, the club is more likely to go over the top. Hope this make sense, by all means reach out to me on Skillest and we can arrange a call to talk about what would work better for you!
@AmmoDude
@AmmoDude 9 ай бұрын
@@harryshawgolfThe reason pros heads do not move forward is because they release the club properly (downward) and it is pulling their arms straight. Their bodies are bracing against the pulling of the swing weight of the club. Once you feel the proper release pulling on your arms, you will never forget that sensation. Most ams release left, not down and never feel the club pulling their arms straight after impact.
