Susan Egan was also Belle in the Original Broadway cast of "Beauty and the Beast". She also played the role in Los Angeles, during the production of "Hercules". She would do the voice recordings for "Hercules" during the day, and then perform in "Beauty and the Beast" at night.
@OpticalSorcerer8 ай бұрын
Not a huge fan of her given that for most of the film she's trying to kill Hercules--granted, one may argue she was forced to, but at times it's implied that Hades is providing incentive rather than strict force. I'm glad she gave her life to prove her love for him, but her previous actions made the romance feel (mostly) disengenuous to me.

@@Chuuzus I hope you do the Disney Tarzan 1999 movie. The movie and music is so good
@annabelledrake20277 ай бұрын
@@OpticalSorcerer bro wdym it’s literally implied that meg CANNOT deny him, he literally owns her soul. It’s not a “small incentive” situation, it’s “do this and get your soul/life/freedom to make your own decisions back.” She tries to say she won’t do what he says one time, and he reminds her that he owns her, and so she eventually has to go along with him. If she denied Hades, he could literally just kill her/destroy her soul. If someone owns your soul, you don’t get the option to say “I don’t feel like listening to this person”, because dude, they own your soul, they can make you do whatever they want. Meg is very clearly not happy with her situation and is following Hades’ orders begrudgingly because she has no choice. She’s constantly making quippy remarks and shading Hades because she doesn’t actually want to be listening to him. She just literally does not have a choice, so she rebels in little ways with the little power she does have. It’s a huge part of her character.

Amazing stories of character, love, darkness and coming of age that was not afraid to get a bit dark and a bit fun when needed to sell stories of the heart and lessons of meaning. I have never seen a movie that did what hunchback did I have never seen a movie that captured the coming of age theme that Lion king did And beauty and the beast had such amazing music and art that I have yet to see an animated film that gave me thstbsamenwokder As I felt watching the beast transform back into human etc. That was one good thing about being a 90's kid We got to see some the best examples of modern animated masterpieces that are so unique and well done we use them as a basis to compare everything after. Hades in greek myth is not the devil, he's actually one of the nicer gods and doesn't really do much outside of his role. He often gets conflated with the devil due to his role as King of the dead but he doesn't act anything like the devil. He is responsible for the entire afterlife, the reward and punishment, he would usually only make appearances when someone specifically sought him out or wandered into his realm when they're not supposed to.

some cool facts about the movie/how it relates to actual ancient greek mythology (same mythology as in percy jackson) 1. hercules (actually written herakles in the greek version) was a demigod, son of zeus and a mortal princess alcmene 2. herakles did actually marry megara (though she was given as a gift), but unfortunately hera (zeus' wife) sent him insane and he k worded meg & their children 3. titans were the rulers before the gods in the "golden age" which was actually a pretty good time for humans and they had the same humanoid figures as the gods 4. the titans kronos and rhea were the parents of zeus, hades, poseidon, hera, hestia, & demeter and there was actually a war between the titans and the gods, where the gods won and the titans were chopped up and sent to tartarus (a pit/primordial god in the underworld) 5. hades was a relatively good guy (compared to the rest of the olympians), he was never portrayed badly in mythology, didn't try take over olympus, he just gets a bad wrap for being god of the underworld (so kinda like an equivalent to satan & hell) 6. herakles did become a god and lived on olympus, marrying hebe (post k wording meg) 7. love that you caught the lion skin being scar, it was, but in the actual mythology its herakles killing the nemean lion anyway theres a bunch more but i just think these are cool
