West Rome starts with a lot of cores at the start date he picked. Since he has them as a vassal, he can reconquer them easily. You can release some nations in vanilla to reconquer their cores (Syria and Gascony are quite good, larger nations that got full annexed later in your games can be useful too), but none will have quite that many cores.

he used return province and then war vassalized because otherwise westrome would take a lot of his land (they have a lot of cores on his homeland). Releasing them theyd have the same amount of cores except theyd take more land from soissons.

Usually its 150 or 50 years depending on culture, it can also be forever if said core is the primary tag for the culture. In the case of aragon, either it had been enough time that only the cores that never go away (aragonese culture ones) were left, or they were removed through war

hey laith, just so you know, if you don't know who a particular ally of the nation you're attacking is, you can click on their flag in the declare war screen and the camera will move over to them and the nation will be highlighted

I remember playing Soissons in CK2's "When the World Stopped Making Sense" mod, I didn't form Western Rome, cause I wanted to rp as a kind of Byzantium, like my country would be known as "The Gaulic Empire" in history. Honestly one of my favorite campaigns of all time, glad to see Soissons getting some love!

21:41 as if by magic the ai nation has an additional 30k troops teleport in lol - I just started playing Nubia recently. Ethiopia & vassals & allies had 20k troops when I declared war on them. I had gotten some pretty good generals - a 4 3 2 0 for example... I had 11k troops. I used save scumming to stack wipe all of their armies relatively quick.. four 5-6k stacks... went to siege.. Etiopia immediately came up with another 26k troops out of nowhere. Theyt kept attacking my sieges, so I had to leave, kill their armies again.. stack wiped most.. a few escaped. I went back to sieging... Ethiopia came up with another 20k stack.... the first war with them, in 1452, I killed more than 80k of their troops with my 11k stack and 11k manpower. Let me know how its possible for Ethiopia to have more money and manpower than The Ottomans???

Tom hasn't contributed to the channel for months, he has kinda moved on (probably for a more "professional" career) and doesn't have the time/motivation for KZbin anymore (Laith explained in a community post a few months back). As such, the name "The Social Streamers" doesn't make much sense anymore, when there is only one "Streamer" left. Will who still appears on the banner was only around for some time in the channel's very early days, was also kinda part of the "SocialStreamers" name. Besides, Laith has shaped much of the channel's "modern" identity for years now, even if Toms more history or technically focused videos were also fun to watch.

So the last emperor of Rome fled Italy for Roman controlled Gaul (soissons), and was given land to rule, under the watchful eye of the warlord of Gaul, kind of like Japan and manchukuo. Presumably the warlord intends to reconquer Italy in the name of the emperor, then the emperor has an “accident”, then the warlord reintegrates the lands held by the now dead emperor, then finally, crowns himself emperor of the western Roman Empire essentially unopposed.
