Yes, some are literally lying on top of the ground.

@@HeartbreakerRelics Mark them and find out the central area where they were found. Probe deep!!! That represents a house! There should be storage pits in the house floor. That is how my brother found some incredible artifacts. If you are really good with a detector (specialized for deep relics) you can find other stuff. Iron hoes and axes. My brother found 2 copper pots that were upside down, one had 3 pipes under it. If you are finding flintlock parts and square nails you are in an amazing spot. Trust me on this one!!! Some artifacts were 3 feet deep and some were just beneath the plow zone.
