this whole mod has a nice concept behind it but the animations really throw it off for me, they look extremely janky and having spiderman punch the majority of the time makes him lose his acrobat like fighting style, I honestly would rather use the original fighting style over this mod anyday cuz the animation didn't serve this mod justice imo

This is exactly what this game needed, you know for them going for this “acrobatic improviser” approach, they sure didn’t give us many dynamic/exhilarating movement options. For example when you jump you can’t do a backflip or side flip when you point the joystick in that direction and feels super Arcady, and when you dodge there is an annoying little pause after so you can’t just run afterwards, also I feel like different levels of dodging would be beneficial for ex: press dodge once and he does a weave that doesn’t force the player away from the enemy, press dodge twice and he will do the classic dodge getting far away from danger, and press jump after and he will do the thing he does in this game where it’s a follow up leap but instead make it so that spidey does a longer and higher jump. the running itself should not hold up an entire button like r2 and instead just bind it to left stick, make the run faster, make the combat ready/idle animation not so awkward and let him look more confident yet cautious rather than him looking like he’s scared. Also the biggest thing is the faster attack animations as those make the gameplay feel 100x better

This game is overrated. I play Playstation and I've completed both ps4 and ps5 remastered even completed miles on both consoles. Miles was way better and simple, non of that extra animations of Peter which gets old.

Any mod that makes him actually punch people is a top tier mod in my book. Loved how combat was in this game for the time I played it but I just didn't understand why his attack animations were so kick centric, especially when one of his suits literally has a big cybernetic arm that only looks cool to use whenever you do a triangle dash-in attack.

My headcanon was he uses kicks more since punches are way more damaging and more prone to kill or break someone's jaw, etc.. Also the range of his legs have longer reach and definitely makes use of his acrobatic skills with handsprings etc. But hey not saying that punches don't look cool. Just giving a reason as to why Spidey is represented as a kicking guy

@@sushiknight17 kicks are more powerful than punches actually, and Spider-Man in comics has punched a lot. Punches are better to control and regulate. Kicks has more reach, but punches are faster and with Spider-Man's speed he shouldn't be afraid of lacking the reach with punches.

Honestly I don't care if he uses punches or kicks, I just like how much faster he is. Its fitting for how fast spidey truly is to mod the game to make him faster than the balance intended because he actually would obliterate enemies like this

I do agree that insomniac could've made spidey more faster in the sense he's super human, but I can appreciate the fact they tried to make this version of him "realistic", but I don't think the mod achieved that as the animations for his moves look kind of janky to me

It's a side effect of the Atmosphere Mod I'm using. The Sky is Animated as oppose to static but it makes the water much bluer.

Wow. Not all of these animations hit, but it's amazing that so many of them do. I feel like this game was going for a Brand New Day era type feel, which I personally can't stand but it's Spidey so what are you gonna do. These attack animations where he's more efficient but not necessarily more brutal feel like they belong in a comic illustrated by Marco Checchetto. Very nice.

Vanilla Combos uses a lot of cartwheels and dropkicks. This mod uses punches, elbows and any combat animations from both games.

One wish that I have in the next game is that there are more varieties of animation in normal combat, like this mod does. I press R2 to swing and it blesses me with tonnes of animations but I press Square to hit and it does the same combo everytime.

In the original game he kicks with the legs (which is more damaging and brutal), here he is beating criminals with his hands (which is less damaging, and leaves marks on hands). Oh and finising animations, those are animations from Miles game, they are not more brutal, they are mote imature. Finishing animations from the original game is FAR more brutal.

The Air FInisher one? That one is custom made from when the final fight with Doc Ock. I think I know what you mean, the camera work is a little iffy. This is from my own version of the mod and I like the Camera angle. The Public version in Nexus doesn't have that angle and is less iffy.

While I did think the capoeira style was interesting in the OG game, I REALLY like these animations more. Capoeira is a very powerful fighting style if it hits. Combine that with Spidey's super strength and he'd be killing dudes in one kick! This looks a little more realistic and pairs with his abilities better imo. He's throwing wild haymakers and jabs while still making dudes fly a couple feet. It gives you a sense of how strong he is, even when he's holding back!

The Original Combat just feels like it doesn't suit Spider-man which should focus on his agility more. Capoeira style is more ground base Combat. It doesn't utilize Spder-man's spider-like movements.

This may be a nitpick, but it always bothered me how often Spider-Man kicks in this game. Maybe because I’m a huge fan of heavy hitting brawlers and they seemed to fix that in Miles Morales. I know spidey is crazy acrobatic but he shouldve used arm combat more in this game

Peter is acrobatic style hero, so it’s only logic that he uses more kicks than punches. Miles is a newbie so he relies on his hands

It makes a lot of sense that he doesn't, he needs his hands to use the webs, if he only used his hands he would be forced to choose between movement or power. There's no reason for him to use his punches unless he actually needs them which he does when when taking down bigger enemies in this game.
