It feels like gladiator's ability is a strictly worse yondu. It feels bad, even against a bounce deck, i kept whiffing and grabbing chavez.

Bad luck. I usually take 5 power cards and for knull he is perfect. Use venom on him and Deadpool and etc. On turn 5 or 6(if magik) and boom. Much power

You cant play him late unless you either play him in an opponents full lane, a cosmo lane, or paired with Forge or Shuri. Hes similar to Maximus where their ability is a negative ability you dont want to activate except for certain situations. In terms of raw power, 3/7 is one of the best. But hes not a win condition or even a key card in decks which makes him feel significantly worse than the other recent cards. Id argue if old Nimrod and Gladiator came out people would praise Gladiator more.

@@pyrolysis2129 that might have been me lol was the name Woozie? Don’t remember who won that game but was fun nonetheless. Slotted Gladiator in my Shuri Redskull deck, decks just as effective just a way more fun version of Shuri Redskull. Very high win rate deck but can get very boring after a few wins. But adding Gladiator added a level of fun to the deck that it desperately needed imo. Destroying Death with a 14 power Gladiator was insane! I’d say that’s the most effective deck that Gladiator can slot into because you can Zero him if you don’t want to trigger his ability, and playing Shuri than Gladiator combo is nice filled up by a red skull or Taskmaster as a final play is a pretty good third win condition.

I seen PerryNecessary using the same deck except that he had added destroyer and mirage, to duplicate multiple nimrods and seal the cake with Knull. He also included a electro to further increase the max energy. Really like the deck, already got knull, but now need nimrod, destroyer x23. been 2 weeks since i have been playing this game and ngl been pretty wild and enjoying it.

I appreciate the advice up front about whether or not he's worth it. Like a lot of people I was pretty interested in the card and although I think he has potential to be useful, I already have Loki and Mirage so I think I'm gonna wait to try for Annihilus next week. Can really only save up enough keys to try for a new card every few weeks, so need to be selective!

I pulled Mirage and a rando Ravonna on the two keys I used. I had Ravonna pinned in the shop and wanted Mirage-so not a total waste. Still have a couple keys left but savin them for next week. Already have Loki and don’t feel like I’m missin out on Gladiator.

I’ve been having fun playing him in a beefy surfer deck with Maximus, Cosmo and werewolf. I always had trouble with maximus on his own, but with glad, there’s another nice chunk of power on the board before surfer does his thing. And they both dodge shang chi now. Then werewolf and cosmo, too, the former to capitalize on the on reveals and the latter to nullify the downsides of their effects. And werewolf works even if Cosmo stops the effect. Surfer is one of my favorite archetypes and it’s a new dawn for that silver boy :)

By opening my collectors reserves I am actually able to progress enough to collect enough spotlights to get at least 3 of the 4 new cards each month. I opened for him. I doubt they will buff the reserves.

Hi, I hope you're feeling better! I thought you were about to unearth my super secret tech of running wave + Knull + Mystique for the amazing turn 7. Glad the word hasn't gotten out because destroying X-23 on 6 means you can even Knull + Zola without priority. Seen some trouble with this lockdown meta (which of course brings a minefield of Alioths) but damn if it isn't fun to shock people with it.

Surfer 3 is definitely where he's going to live! Been playing a gladiator with sword master and maximus, with cosmo and Zero to deny at least 2 of the 3 habilties, and on the times i want to use gladiator for the big killing, Forge has been there to help out beat the bigger cards! Then you put in your classic counters in rougue, spiderman, etc...wrapp it up with the classic sera, and even when you dont draw the surfer, having 2 3/7's, and one 3/6 on the board usually does the trick for me!

Ive been having decent games in conquest with a wongocombo build. Since Wong pairs nicely with Crystal and Magik (key cards for wombos) as well as Mystique plus theyre all 3 costs (except wong). Mixed with Forge, Nakia (3 cost and power for Brood and Gladiator), you can get Gladiator to 10+ power easily. I also have Wave plus a Odin and Magneto. Wave because shes a 3 cost and 5 power which is great for Surfer and it enables you to play Magneto early to move an enemy Cosmo. Odins there to allow you to play Surfer early and double up with Odin (ideally on Wong). Overall it feels like a fun deck. I managed to beat someone in conquest who used Cosmo, Shadowking, Armor, and Jean grey lol. edit: Yes you can accomplish similar things with Maximus and a bit less risky, however being able to remove 1-2 cards from their deck to do a final turn 6-7 play is never a bad thing imo. But you definitely can mess yourself up of you dont think about it.

@cozysnap I have a combo that could be a fun showcase. been testing it recenetly and having some luck with it. however i'm only collection level 1600 and by far dont have all the cards that could synergize. I've liked running move decks but with the recent popularity of black widow in the mix along with ms marvel my current setup is this. Korg, Multiple man, Black widow , carnage, Shadow King, deathlock, storm, Pheonix Force, Ms Marvel, Vision, Alioth, Chavez I know having torch would be a much better choice than multiple man, (but i dont have him) however having the double drop black widow is just so much fun to play

Its actually nuts how different our Nimrod decks are; mines a lot more all in on him but even still I am surprised to not see Iron Lad Mines currently - Echo - Carnage - Wolverine - Venom - Deathlock - Magik - Shuri - Iron Lad - Nimrod - Arnim Zola - Destroyer - Knull on Ladder/ Chavez in Conquest

Zabu, Wong + forge and gladiator is brutal. It is its own deck in its own right. Played with arnim and knull. Throw in a few tech cards for zone play. But an 11 power gladiator eating 2 cards usually guaranteed and it plays into knull nicely if you catch 8-9-10 power cards.

Gladiator was clearly made for Shuri decks. Get him to 14 power and he becomes harder to beat. Even with some of the effects still happening.

Honestly it's like I haven't seen any creators saying this. And this is how I built a deck for him. Gladiator will be a good card. Just gotta use him correctly. I felt it was obvious to buff him with at least forge. The second deck I was going to build is a Magik shuri deck. Zabu, wong, shuri, gladiator task master. Armor in there after the glad play to protect your 10+ power glad from Shang chi.

I play CE5 Ms.Marvel. and had the funniest encounter... let me put the stage. Left side had the -2 ninjas. Center was "if more than 1 card exist, destroy them" and right side, i forgot but opponent had 2 cards there.. He had Werewolf on left side. he dropped magneto in center to kill a lot of my cards, but what he didn't expect was. When he dropped gladiator on the right side. it drew my polaris, because of CE5, she is 7 power, and thus can't destroy. My polaris drags the ninja, so there are now 4 cards full. werewolf can't jump (previously jumped to magneto) and the guy ends up blowing his center field. and loses right side, because of the -2 ninja. my silk jumped Left. and won me the game... lol

I feel like I have FOMO. Like he's not great but what if they make him better. This is the kind of card that is crazy to be series 5 and not 4. I'd love to save the spotlight key and just use the tokens even if he's just a fun card in the long run.

I feel like everyone went in this week thinking gladiator was going to be great(me included) and got him. I thought he was going to be a risk reward yondu bur turns out he's even worse. Having the opposing card play before you destroy just kills gladiator. He should be like yondu but keep the less or more power(base print power) ability without having to play their cards

Can it be used with echo? Like if he pulls a an ongoing card to the location you have echo on, echo should stop the ability therefore destroying it. Unless echo won't work on it because the opponent isn't the one playing it?

Friends, I need your help! I've unlocked Loki for the first time in the recent cache, and I cannot believe how broken this card is. And by broken I mean inconsistent! I've been playing Loki for days now, and I have reached 77 on the ladder, only to drop to 69, rise to 77 again and now drop to 70. What am I doing wrong? My Loki deck is Loki, Collector, Cosmo, Armor, Agent 13, Maria Hill, Coulson, Devil Dino, Elsa, Quinjet, America, Moongirl - what would you change to make it more consistent? I don't have Snowguard unfortunately...

Frankly it’s kind of a relief when a new card is a bit of a bust. One less card that I have to stress about acquiring. I had 3000 tokens ready to spend Mirage and I’m good to go for next week. That might not a good thing for the game in the larger sense, but speaking personally a week to let things breathe is welcome.

I agree. I know a lot of people disagree vehemently but I wish cards were released underpowered and then balanced afterwards. I don't want cards to be released so good that its "impactful" as Glenn would say... Impactful just means another card to get pissed off about until they inevitably nerf it and then the people who got it will be pissed that it was nerfed.

The developers did not need to add the option that the card that the Gladiator pulls out will be able to use the effect when revealed. There have already been funny moments with Alioth, Spider-Ham, Wolverine, Doctor Doom or Hulkbuster, who manages to merge with another card and survive.
