About Escape from Tarkov

Having some experience with Unity, it probably has to do with how assets are loaded and unloaded. If you reduce the size of the textures (even just from 2k to 1k) it reduces the size by a power of 2, so something that's, say, 8 MB, will become 2 MB. It exponentially increases the speed at which textures can be loaded.

Yeah. They probably didn't realize how much streets would take and had to downsize assets on it. Map is huge and has a lot in it. It's an impressive map if you own a spaceship capable of running it

i have 16 ram and game run better when this Setting off don't know why when it of i get like 80-90 fps on street but when its on i get like 60-70 fps and lag

@exriq4409 if the game was on unreal engine 5 I could see your point. However, it is not an evolution of hardware issue it is an optimization issue. I guess it's easier to have the consumer pay for your incompetence though.

Lower everything and frames as well then slowly move them up to ur liking for quality or performance. I was once there last wipe. Also uninstall games you don’t play anymore

@@Opentheeyes-most of my setting are already as low as they can go and I don’t have that many games in my computer. Streets worked fine for me last wipe, but this wipe I havnt been able to load once

@@echo_gains5269Try turning texture quality up to either medium or high. In most cases this will actually improve performance because Tarkov is a very CPU intensive game and by lowering settings too much you are actually putting too much work load onto the CPU while the graphics card is being under utilized. Another suggestion is disable post fx and see if that helps you load in.

I did testing, and on my system with 16gb of ram and an RX 6700xt with 12gb of vram I don't run into memory issues regardless of texture settings. However, I do notice about a 2gb difference in vram usage, but even with low textures on Streets it never gets down to 8gb, lowest I've gotten it is just under 9gb. This means if you have an 8gb graphics card you're screwed no matter what, it's never going to perform well. Once you go over the vram limit of your card it's going to start swapping with system memory, and that will always stutter. At the settings I play every other map at I sit about 12gb ram usage and 10-11gb vram usage on Streets, so very near the limit on my graphics card, but never over. It still runs like garbage though, but only once Scavs load in, I go from about 70-100fps down to 40-60, with stuttering that makes it difficult to aim at times. Textures low or high I only see like a 10fps difference, regardless of map. The thing that makes the most difference for ram usage is automatic ram cleaner though. I can get that 12gb down to about 8, by hitting escape and sitting in the menu for a few seconds. That sounds wild, but it appears that the cleaner only works when you're in the menu. It doesn't make a performance difference that I can tell though, because I'm never running out of memory.

I feel 6-7 mags of p90 is optimal, you can get away with 5 but your going to be reloading them at 12 bullets per minute
