This New Skill Makes a REAL Battlemage!! | Elder Scrolls Online Scribing

This is one of the coolest animations in the game and it feels amazing to use. I hope they make more like this one (and maybe buff it a little for PvE)!
The Elder Scrolls Online's Newest chapter is almost here with its new major feature, Scribing! Scribing is essentially spell crafting in which you can customize new abilities called Grimoires with Signature Scripts and Affix Scripts. These customizations come in many varieties, and there are 11 new skills to mess around with. Generally, I think many of the combinations are not that good, but a few of them are excellent, and a few of them are good enough to use but not game changers. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

You know, I get why some people don't like abilities that have cast or channel times, but there is really something to be said about how a cast/channel with a big payoff makes you feel like a mage and I'm glad they weren't afraid to play with casts and channels for the scribing abilities. xD

Its because being interrupted does feel really bd and i agree with that. Interrupting snipe or wrecking blow in pve feels terrible, but they are still the most satisfying and easy to weave spammables in the game for me

There should be a quick cast modification, reduce damage, but it’s instant cast.

@@phanelorai2798 there is, thats called Elemental Ring and it already exists as a destro staff skill. If it werent for the 2 second cast time affording a larger power budget, this would be exactly the same skill as elemental ring, but better in which case elemental ring should have just been buffed (which is probs should be?) and this should have been a different skill.

Im probably going to do a few more at least! There are some pretty interesting skills, but Id say about half or more of them are better suited to PvP than PvE so I’ll need (my main account back) and the live servers with the patch up to try those out in battlegrounds reasonably. I imagine some of these skills will change a good bit over the pts cycle, so we’ll see how things develop!

@@CreativeExcusesGaming well, I have a decent build with a decent rotation, i can solo like 80% of world bosses, and a few dlc dungeons on normal mode, the rest is just skill issue really. I need more practice and learn more mechanics to get better, but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. But seeing you take on all the Gold Road WBs in your previous video was proof to me that almost anything can be soloed in this game if you're skilled enough lol

Thank you, was hoping to use this as a spammable, looks like it’s possible. Miffed it doesn’t work with Deadly, however will probably build around Crit, so Orders Wrath, and maybe Gourmands for me to try out, can’t wait!

I think it will pair really well with the Velothi amulet mythic on a two bar build since you will miss out on so many light attacks. That will help this skill out a lot!

In the video for scribing that ZoS did, there was a skill used that showed enemies flying way up and out of frame, what was that skill?

This skill does have a possible knockback! It makes this a wicked artillery crowd control skill for Cyrodil or Battlegrounds, especially when you can knock enemies off of ledges

The cast time make it perfect for a fire “burning” spammable You cast, things burns, when the burns fall off you will be hitting them again

Kinda insane that this can be modified to do different elements, since this is now a channeling skill you can stack this with a Frostbite + Deadly Strikes (it's a channeling ability) and deal massive amounts of damage. Totalling of about a 29% increase of damage since it's a pretty good spammable since it provides damage shield I don't even need to depend on LA for Minor Brittle since the skill can be modified to do it so I can hit every enemy with Minor Brittle that's longer duration than the Chilled proc one. This skill is probably the final piece to a complete one bar Frostden I've been trying to complete for a long time.

Deadly does not buff it. I tested it. Its a cast time skill, not a channeled skill (despite the tooltip saying “channel”)

It is sooooo refreshing to see a pro player using the basic, powerful and reliable caltrops skill. I can't remember why 99% solo players and 99.9% groups eliminated this skill from their rotations. I use it in all my classes, specially in trials. My respecto to u!

Its not always needed! When you already have major breach from somewhere, you dont need razor caltrops and a different dot would be better in its place. Anti calvary caltrops can work, but its about the most standard dot you can get and there are others that might deal more damage at least in single target

I tried it :( It doesn't count as a channeled skill, just a really long cast time. Deadly only applies to skills that "channel" multiple instances of damage or dots, not cast time skills (which is big dumb but I understand why: wrecking blow and snipe with deadly would be bonkers). tldr; deadly does not work on elemental explosion unfort.

Maybe from damage buffs like minor slayer and minor vuln, but not penetration. Pen cant buff your damage past the tooltip number

i hope that they make scribing work with every skill and class but with some changes, the more build crafting they allow the more unique and more fun i’ll have returning to the game, without it i doubt i’ll come back tho

It would be really great if the class system in general was replaced with a system similar to scribing, if we are paying for dlc, we should be able to use the content we are funding and paying for on any character. The current system is oriented around more casual players that prefer re-rolling characters and doing zone stories over and over, rather than pushing for endgame content or PvP, and they could easily still do that with more flexibility for role playing or whatnot with a better class system. Scribing should actually be the formula going forward for new classes, it would have been awesome for example if the deadric princes all had their own specific grimoires, and that's how arcanist could have been introduced to the game, would have been a fantastic opportunity to add some really desirable content to the infinite archives.

@BobaSoda_ Yea they really dont want to allow aoe taunts, and its really not for any good reason. They could just make aoe taunts only last like 5 seconds so its for grouping and debuffing adds and then you go grab them individually after

The new scribing system imo wasnt made to make every class awesome. It was made for the sorc and necro to bridge the gaps between the more fancy classes. 😂😂

Funny enough my favorite spammables are all the cast time spams: wrecking blow, snipe, bloodthirst, and old jabs (i dont like new jabs much at all though). This one is also super cool and feels awesome to use, but you do lose quite a lot of damage potential. Some day i need to farm out the velothi mage amulet mythic and see if i can get this skill to perform a little better for damage.

It feels so much better than expected. I do think its damage in pve settings could go up a bit to compensate for the light/heavy attacks you miss out on, but it feels shockingly good for a 2 second cast time
