Entothyreos really does make me wonder what the Cambrian was smoking back in the day. Lobopodians being a paraphyletic grouping was something new to me but totally expected just because of how wildly different they were, reminds me of the "kingdom" protista. Honestly I wish that there was more to this thing and hopefully the Burgess Shale continues to make us question reality. Also I recognize that Minas Tirith painting👀

Same. I always thought lobopodians just meant velvet worms and their relatives like Hallucigenia. But apparently now it’s paraphyletic like “birds of prey.” Wait, Protista isn’t a kingdom anymore? Damn, phylogenetics is changing super fast.

Also, noticed some beetles like Japanese beetle are significantly smaller. I had learned through archaeology that when O2% were higher insects were bigger. So, I thought with more CO2% the O2% decreases and insects will get smaller or go extinct from asphyxiation. And how are earthworms affected? Bringing a cute pet on screen, for instance, makes me think "oh yeah, this guy is insecure about his ability to run a one man show." I'm sorry, but I do not like spiders, and having one crawl all over me is one of my worst nightmares. So whilst the subject matter of this video was very interesting and highly intriguing, its attraction for me was completely wiped out by the roaming arachnid. I can understand why the video maker thought it would be a good idea- the channel is about arthropods, after all, and it is certainly a novel way of presenting the subject matter. However, arachnophobia is a thing, and the fact an arachnid is walking free all over the presenter may well be stopping people subscribing... it has me, for one. There are other large arthropods that could be used to such effect without triggering potential subscribers- a large mantid, stick insect, even a big stag beetle would be far more acceptable presentation companions!

You can consider it an opportunity to desensitize your phobia. Theoretically, if you're exposed to it often and learn that it is harmless in the video, you might be able to apply that logic to yourself in the future. This practically reasons your fears away. But hey, do whatever's most comfortable for yourself.
@carolynallisee24633 ай бұрын
@@TheR6R6R The thing about a phobia is that its completely irrational. The sufferer can reason all they want, but it doesn't stop the phobia kicking in when triggered. I know most spiders are harmless, and I even go as far as to feed certain house spiders in the garden with captured flies. Because my dislike is so intense, and has been a lifelong thing, I've tried to counter it by studying spiders, both by reading, and by watching them when I encounter them. Nothing I've done has removed my fear and loathing of spiders, but it has allowed me to master these things to a certain degree... until I see one walking all over someone!
