Horizon focus would have been the absolute best choice there @8:40. You needed the softcap cdr still & revealing bushes as control mage is absolutely essential. The dmg is probably comparable with shadowflame & only outpaced by rabadon or banshee.

That's the whole point of the champion... he is balanced around high burst and mobility, because his job is to oneshot a key target. He can almost oneshot one squishy, whereas Nemesis can continously oneshot people with no cooldown, it's different champs.

Mastery is irrelevant. A first time challenger midlaner is automatically better at Syndra than a onetrick with 1mil that is platinum.
