This New Zelda Game Took 4 YEARS to Make - Dungeons of Infinity

Dungeons of Infinity is a fan-made game built from the ground up based on A Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past. Honestly one of the coolest fan projects I've ever seen!
It's a rogue-like / dungeon crawler / Hades-esque style game with procedurally randomized rooms and stuff.

Can't wait to watch the next run! You'll crush the next one with getting some extra secrets. Pro tip: Consumable items can be used strait from the floor without picking them up first. In a similar way, just standing on a map or compass will grant the effects of holding it.

I had a curse deep into the 4th dungeon that prevented healing of any kind until I defeated 50 enemies and I only had 1 heart. Luckily, I made it out alive somehow. This is a ton of fun. Brutal sometimes but fun

You could have gotten into that vault. You needed to sprinkle the magic powder onto the dead tree. Then exchange the powder for the item the animal gives you then unlock the grave and he'll give you the key to the vault.

It looked like Ryu could somehow see everything even when it was dark. But the lantern upgrade would still be appreciated by KZbin watchers, I'm sure. 😂

Looks like the problem I used to run into. Having a constant +1 x and +1 y for diagonals actually makes you faster. You're supposed to use normalized values. There's videos that describe this better but really think he should change it and it would feel a lot better. :)

Kind of feel like people that make these projects of love and passion should try to build in an ability to quickly reskin and change the assets to avoid Nintendo IP. That way when the inevitable C&D hits, they can delete the Nintendo assets and the game stays alive just no longer looking like Zelda.

I don't get why he wouldn't just make/buy new assets and sell it as his own game. He already rebuilt the systems from the ground up. A new coat of paint and music and it would be legally distinct.

10 Hidden thing I know so far about the bandit camp *Spoiler* *Spoiler* *Spoiler* 1 As you enter the camp, there is a chest to the left. Passed the guard by the gate, go left under the trees, before going up near the river. 2 Deliver the letter in the top left most house (you got this one) 3 Beside the lady who wants her mirror's house is a path to behind the waterfall for more gems. 4 Above the top bookshelf in the library are some hidden gems. 5 Going south of the main market, clear the bushes to find a path to a chest behind the chick house. (you got this one) 6 Above the graveyard is a wat to get onto the river. Go left and get the chest (you got this one) 7 In the desert at the bottom right corner there is a hidden cave between the cacti, blow it up. That is why there are bombs all over town. 8 Get the wish stone in the desert home, if you use it in the dwarven town on level 10 it will give you 2 items, possibly sword or bag upgrades. 9 if you pick up the chickens, they may lay an egg. Normal eggs heal 3 hearts, Golden eggs heal full hearts and give you 200 gems. Side quest item chain. Find book under the flowers outside of the graveyard Get the mirror in the library by turning in the book Bring the mirror to the woman in the house by the bridge to get the mushroom Get the magic powder from the witch in the item shop for the mushroom Use the powder on the weird tree by the river crossing for the crest Use the crest in the graveyard by the king's grave to get the key. Warning this uses about a third of your magic. Use the key to enter vault and get tons of gems ~ 400 - 600 I am sure there are more but that is all I know.

My time on gaming forums tells me the personality this dev may have..... but at the same time it's ADDICTING. I cain't stop. x3 It's a little heavy on Ganondorf's usual style of canonical dark humor. (In the series, Ganon uses horror elements just to scare Link and remove key people he needed removed. Which explains the Stalfos and the Redeads. Here? Justin just went on a Hylian murder spree.) But other than that, and some save misfortunes I run into, this is a neat little game. I wish it had metaprogression. Like obtainable starter items.

procedural means it's not completely random. there's rules. what enemies are in this type of room. there has to be a key per key door. these chunks of room are what the code can use to build complete rooms and how they can fit together. random but with rules. that is procedural generation. It's the way the house is built in betrayal at house on the hill. amazing tabletop game.
