This Nigerian town is slowly disappearing under the Atlantic Ocean

The coastal community of Ayetoro in Nigeria was nicknamed "Happy City" when it was founded decades ago. But the lives of its current residents are far from happy. Their community is slowly being submerged by the Atlantic Ocean, with households displaced and businesses lost to the waves. #nigeria #atlanticocean #news

Nope - the rich countries are hit harder. They depend on functioning infrastructure and social systems. In densely populated areas. Social dynamite under these circumstances. Just wait 2, 5 years.

china's United Nations another despot dicktators get together organization paying "scientist" for propagandas. Long ago they used to take females and small males to "sacrifice" to weather and earth event gods, but not before they drugged and abused them for their laughs and giggles, it is Still to TAKE FROM WE THE PEOPLE. Weather and earth events CYCLE as well as seasonal, within seasons, 4, 10, 20, ... 800 years. Excuse for some to extort rather than do something, Excuse to take from Americans, Americans better get down there and do the heavy lifting ALL MY LOOOONG LIFE to just keep getting bashed. "Environment" didn't work, they would not be loading America up with bodies, They don't care, then "ice age" no it cycled to warmer, then global warming NO we had a cool cycle, for now settling for "climate change" BECAUSE IT CYCLES. closer to the truth FEAR MONGERING for gain off we the people.

Wow! What a way to respond to people’s suffering. We could invest way more in education, healthcare, dental care… Instead of judging others one might consider offering compassion. What Texas is experiencing and will experience as well as the rest of the world, is Texas’s own contribution to climate change, just like the rest of our country. 😊 We are the #2 polluters on the planet. Let’s save our judgment and our focus on what we can do. After all, Florida, Louisiana, So Cal, along with parts of Texas are will see their day sooner than we want to know. We have to figure out a way to work together. Respectfully, Your Neighbor

An occurrence like this has been going on since the beginning of the Earth and water. Some people want to opine that this is occurring at a more rapid rate than in centuries past, and how would you know that? Mountains crumble, coastlines change usually very slowly. My suggestion would be, move to higher ground. I am told that in the area where I have lived for over 80 years there was ice a mile thick. Imagine how that compressed the Earth and how it is still rebounding perhaps maybe a millimeter a decade.

The world power ARE donating serious huge amounts of money to Africa already and have done so for decades. I happen to live in such a country, and I pay taxes so that Africa can be helped, If this coastal city has no electricity then why do you live there. Unfortunately, Africa's low level of education and the general level of corruption depletes these funds. I see a coastal city that does nothing to help themselves. Sitting down and walking about instead of being responsible and doing something. Here I mean stone works against water, or digging down palisades to at least delay water encroaching. This coastal city should write to its government and ask for help. Some smart guy coming by once in a while who does nothing to help is not worth much. Have you ever heard about Venice in Italy?

Dikes, breakwaters, bring in tons of sand from elsewhere, push the town back a few hundred yards. The USA should help, it would show our wavering friends and all others that we can still show true empathy. If we dont do it the russians or chinese will slither in. Its the human thing to do. We are having the same problem in Florida, the Carolinas and California. Sand. We need sand.
