17:18 "The Electro is strong in this one..." Fantastic demo of an inspiringly well designed synth. Everything seems exquisitely appropriate on this thing, the 'VU's, those LFO sync buttons, a balance of the spacious 'with' the compact, great connectivity and a rich, yet psychotic sound... how? Just when you thought the monosynth was thoroughly done (and I thought my monosynth GAS was too) this thing!! Great work guys and another perfect vid from Mylarmelodies. Also I feel it necessary to add here that the phrase 'horizontal succulent' is most definitely: A. Not a word choice I (or anyone I alive) ever saw coming, and B. Not an utterance one's wife (or significant other) should ever walk in on?

(and thanks m8, yeah it really is a seriously good grown up synth this, very hard to make sound “bad” as they’ve spent a lot of time refining the controls, leaving what you need and with control ranges that all work well together. The invisible stuff that makes something great, basically.)

This is my main synth in my live setup. I'm thinking about buying a second one. There are situations where I like to have West and East at the same time. It's the right size and playing the instrument live is fun and the parameters are easy/visual to read. The quality is out of this world. You can bring down buildings with the bass.

One way to consider, what "modules" are built in? Like if you were to attempt to build a eurorack case with similar bits, what would that cost? And with similarly large knobs? Could be pretty dear.
@electricdawn22582 ай бұрын
@@CatFish107 Absolutely. You'd need a case, some hundred bucks, a DPO, a good filter, dual LFO's that can be synch'ed, dual ENV generators, a delay, etc... That's a LOT of money. Modular will always be more expensive, but it is also more versatile.

@@mylarmelodies yeah I think I saw it in your rig, a Micro, right? I borrowed a Micro before getting my desktop keys one so, so long ago now. That little thing CAN do polyphony if you start using lfo's as oscillators... The aliasing makes a very pleasing noise. Lo-fi, aliasy, early 80's proto-digital vibes are one of the G1's somewhat hidden strengths.

I often have this when I look at modular demos as well, albeit in my case it's just from having two (different-engined) "normal" synths with wide mod-matrix options. I rarely go "oh, damn, I need a new thing now!", instead I go "hmmm, I wonder if I could do that on X or Y". (Even with effects pedals sometimes, like Fairfield's "Roger That", have instead led to new experimentation inspiration.) I suppose that's the key really, you've got to truly love an instrument to find constant inspiration - rather than just chasing the buzz of learning something new all the time.
@JohnSmith-is8nq2 ай бұрын
@@kaitlyn__L Yeah. It really pays to sit and dig deep in a complex instrument. I've been "underusing" my nord for the last while, merely using it as a drum machine, albeit a SICK drum machine, alongside an Elektron Model Samples that I bought for its sequencer, which I'm extremely impressed with. It really is a groovy mf, that little thing.

If you’d had to choose between the Implexus or Intellijel Cascadia, which one would it be? Given that they are somewhat close price.
@MajellaAudio2 ай бұрын
I would have to much "BIAS" for this to answer it .. 😬
@wolfgang59122 ай бұрын
Why?? 🙂 I loved the open and rich sound when playing with the Implexus in a store, it’s the choice dilemma between a simpler feature set, but gorgeous sound, or more bells and whistles with a more conventional sh101ish sound. I tend to favour tone over features.
@MajellaAudio2 ай бұрын
@@wolfgang5912 Hey Wolfgang! I was just making a joke: Since I'm selling the IMPLEXUS it is hard not to cheer for the IMPLEXUS. But since you already tried it in a store, I completely agree with you in terms of the differences between the two machines. The IMPLEXUS is very easy to use and has really a sound of it own! Which store did you try one out?
@mylarmelodies2 ай бұрын
As with all things, both have their strengths, depending on what you feel you gravitate to/need more - Implexus is very refined and much more immediate and more of a closed/dialed-in system, Cascadia is uber open and more flexible but at the expense of immediacy (although experience helps). There’s definitely overlap but both work very differently! It’s a personal thing as to what you respond to more, aesthetically, functionally, sonically.

Nice demo, mate. I can see this being indispensable for sound-design work and the like, not sure it's really in my wheelhouse at the moment TBH, but YMMV. May need some time to let this one marinade in my brain for a bit. Just looked up the list price, and it's a ways outside of my budget. Definitely think this'll give the Novation Peak a run for it's money, though.
@ioth30318 күн бұрын
I really don't get why they put the patch panel on the front. You're telling me, for sth as basic as routing an LFO to the filter, I need to fiddle around the back?
@MajellaAudio16 күн бұрын
To clarify: it was never intended to be used as a "semi" modular synth int that regard. We even did not put the LFO to filter option on the first kickstarter demo. We thought it was so standard, and not inspiring. We even had the idea to create the synth WITHOUT the filter because it is not what this synth is about.
