@@SleazyRoseWalker mathil, a softcore streamer, made a deal with a bunch of hardcore streamers (quin, ziz, raiz, and others) that as long as he keeps playing hardcore they're not allowed to use logout macros. now we're getting more RIP clips than every other league, and hopefully GGG is browbeaten to balance the game better for hc.

@@tfgirard I get it, my brain thinks in SSF, because i only play poe there. Just looked it up, actually its not that costly to get one in Hardcore, 3 Chaos is the cheapest. Last time i think i had a Portal Gem it was ~8 years ago when Dominus was the final Boss of the game. Maybe i'm just unlucky, but it can drop from level 10. Theoretically it can work, but accidentally entering the portals would be annoying too. :D

Logging out allows you to avoid death and the HC penalty for death. If you log out, you are playing countcore, in which you get to die an unknown number of times before actually incurring the HC penalty. It's just softcore with a semi-random failure penalty. Welcome to playing HC for the first time!

The main problem with the game is the absurd ammount of OHK that dont help HC players. You cant counter completely this, you can just go around it but dont mean you cant get one shot without counting. Its unfair and unbalanced if you cant counter play that. The game isnt balanced on HC, at least without logout.

Game is not balanced around instant logout otherwise logout macro would be a function in the game and not a third party software. However it is balanced around clicking esc + logout because that actually takes some timing and skilling to pull of during a high stress situation not just spamming a key to instantly loggout.

To think Ziz called log-out macro a "skil shot". Within the parameters of the game, GGG never meant for a macro to be a get out of jail free card. The point of hardcore is to either be prepared for anything or risk losing it all. If you're going to gripe about not getting an ejecto seat button, play the mode where it doesn't matter! How does anyone feel good about playing hardcore with a parachute? I have 0 sympathy for people being mad that you can't entirely negate the risk of hardcore.

Logout macros should never be a thing, defeats the purpose of hardcore, the whole idea is you need to PLAN AHEAD and build your character in a way to prevent dying, not wait until you're about to die and logout to avoid that, then go about things differently without incurring any penalty. The only possible accomodation they should make is asystem that spares your character if there's a server-side DC/crash or bug that's out of the player's hands.

this is one thing d3 did better than poe. they balanced their game around not having logout macro like GGG did. really only way for GGG to make game to be any threat at all is to instant kill you often from off screen otherwise game is safe. in d3 u can easily get into dangerous situation you can't escape from and die a m in later.

This is true but you can still die to lag in HC. Also, D3 is insanely easy until well after GR100. My first HC character real try at HC was a Barb I got to Gr120 on Switch (I usually only play on PC) while riding in a car (Going from NY to NV). They are very different games. (I have 1000s of hours in d3).

HC in PoE is having good defenses and constantly warding off tunnel vision because 99% of mobs are cannon fodder. Maybe it's sad, but using a log off macro is denial. Streamers doing that crap is just making the game look legit. Source: never used the macro, always getting into tunnel vision and dying around 90 (where the real game starts lol)
