The Raccoon Mansion
Built in 1983 and lived in for just 20 years before this mansion was abruptly abandoned. In 2003/04 after a small fire that started in the basement, this mansion received massive smoke damage and destroyed a lot of the owner's personal belongings. From notes found throughout the home, it looks as though they did try to salvage what they could before leaving. But with many personal items, kids' clothing and furniture left behind, this home was extremely interesting to explore. The basement was flooded at some point and pretty much everything is left down there.
Over the last 20 years the mansion has remained completely untouched but the roof has now begun to fail, there are walls collapsing and the bugs and raccoons have completely taken over the house since and it will never be lived in again!

Hi James! Fire/smoke damage is always very creepy to see. Very sad when so many belongings have to be left behind and can’t be repaired and returned. I’m surprised it’s still standing and hasn’t fallen into the basement - yet. Glad no one lost their life or got hurt. Great photos you got as well. Thanks for the video!

Never say never if something can or can't be rehabbed. In the neighborhood I used to live in, there were 2 abandoned houses. Both were full of mold. Both were full of critters. Both were rehabbed. Both I featured on my channel.

Ya, it does happen but this one was really rough and would cost more to renovate than to rebuild...so it just wouldn't make sense financially. It's an 80s house so it's doubtful that anyone would like it enough to save it. Thank you very much for your comment!!

Don't forget to take those objects you showed us to the warehouse for cleaning and remember to list all the damaged stuff as well for insurance purposes!!! Liked the emergency lighting you set up through the house for filming too! ...Hey, you're gurgling - wait until that disturbance reaches your colon and wants to keep moving on! ... Those raccoons were so respectful - only pooping on 1 side of those stairs! ...I'm wondering if those were cobwebs or spider webs...
@StaticSpaces
@StaticSpaces 5 ай бұрын
Ha ya, if only that emergency lighting still worked. Raccoons are surprisingly organised animals, they usually keep their poop in one place. Thanks very much for your comment!!

Why did they leave this standing for 20 years? If I were living in that neighborhood I wouldn’t be too happy about that. The animals it attracts-can’t be too healthy. Looks like it was a nice home.
@StaticSpaces
@StaticSpaces 5 ай бұрын
There really isn't much you can do to be honest other than report bylaw infractions, such as unmowed grass or dead trees and the property was fairly well kept in that regard. But I agree, the pests it attracts aren't good for anybody. Thank you very much for your comment!!

I'm about 9 minutes in, what keeps sounding like something is growling? My last apartment my daughter and I lived in from 2011 to January 2022, the entire complex was evicted after Hurricane Ida. Some apartments look like this while others still look like the day we left. Mold is SO bad and spiders have taken over. I don't do spiders.
@StaticSpaces
@StaticSpaces 5 ай бұрын
Not sure what the growling was, unless maybe it was one of the raccoons? Crazy that some units in the same complex are completely destroyed while others are untouched. I don't do spiders either. 😆 Thanks very much for your comment!!

I'm shocked, no freezer reveal!😁 Such a shame to see that nice place ruined by fire. Looks like quite a bit of charring throughout the furnace area, and heavy smoke/ heat damage beyond. Musta been an inferno down there! Would be curious to know what actually caused the fire. Also, with all the stuff that's left behind, I'm surprised you don't grab a broom or something to knock down the cobwebs as you enter a space!
@StaticSpaces
@StaticSpaces 5 ай бұрын
There was a freezer? I don't remember seeing one, otherwise I would have opened it! I am really curious what caused the fire too, maybe that one room was a sauna? Well that would be a good idea knocking down the cobwebs, but that would kind of kill the mood of the explore. 😂 Thank you very much for your comment!!

That was one disgusting house! The deer heads made me gag. 🤢 I can see why this house needs to be demolished, hopefully sooner than later. The only thing I saw on the inside of that house that I liked was the staircase. That huge spider🕷😬, I would have filled my underwear! This was a creepy one James. I’m very thankful the family survived the fire.
