I agree with you on the iPhone/Smartphone camera; it's the only camera I use, aside from my drone. I also prefer Topaz because, in my opinion, it delivers the best results among the current options on the market. I'm curious if Adobe will continue to enhance Super Resolution and make Denoise available for other formats, allowing it to be used in conjunction with Super Resolution. Currently, I refrain from using Resize, Sharpening, or Denoise in Lightroom altogether as, in my opinion, they fall short of Topaz's power and quality.

I really like LR Denoise, but I also agree that SR and sharpening could use fresh coats of paint in terms of refinement and control. Still, they do a great job in a pinch or when you don’t have other comparable apps installed.

I haven't been able to use denoise, as even when I imported my Sony A1 files and converted them to .dng, denoise wouldn't work on them. So, denoise has never worked for me in my workflow. Even now, it doesn't work on my iPhone files. For me, Lightroom denoise has been a BFT..@@brianmatiash

It's not really 48 MP. It's a slight of hand. They use quad pixels, i.e. each pixel is divided into 4 quarter pixels.

I want a viewfinder, good glass, nice rendering and a real camera not a phone etc. Jyst because the camera on my car can take images doesn't mean I have to use it. For the price of a top modern smartphone you can get proper proffessional camera gear but megapixels are soooooo overrated. I've done amazing prints with 12 year old 12 Megapixels cameras. I still today have not seen a good image from a smartphone in print.

Hi Brian. Another helpful video, thank you. Have you seen Tony Northrup's video from 2 months ago (The Truth) in which he points out how Apple is apparently using cropping to claim more lenses (4 extra) than the iPhone actually has and how doing so reduces the available Mpix of the "extra" lenses. He also states that the 48 Mpix sensor is really a 12 with each pixel counted as 4 by a trick I don't understand. Do you agree with his analysis? Also, which lens did you use in this video? Thanks

I'm using the pre-production lens kit by Reeflex. It's called the G-Series lenses. I have a first-look video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6ndZ5h-aK96mrc While I'm still waiting to properly test the production version, I've been very impressed so far.

What I did not understand was why did you not crop BEFORE upscaling? Then you would not end up with such a huge file

Thanks for another informative video. Why did you export to jpg in the Prophoto RGB color space? I thought that jpg should be in sRGB for viewing outside LR.

Thanks! Honestly, I can’t remember why I selected ProPhoto RGB. 😅 You are right in that I use sRGB for any sort of online sharing. But I will use ProPhoto RGB if I’m transferring a photo to another individual or company (unless they specify the colorspace in advance).

What MacBook Pro laptop is perfect without spending to much on a Souped up Mac? I was looking at the $2400 laptop but I feel like the basic $1600 will handle Lightroom just fine. What do you have Brian?

I'm experimenting now with Super Resolution on some of my Alaska photos, most of which are cropped (all taken with iPhone of various models) I find that I get so much noise and "green worms" and other pixelization that I'm not sure it's worth it to risk printing these. I'm working on a photo book and I want the highest quality possible. Without doing some test prints, I have no idea if I'm actually ruining the photos or improving the printed image quality. Has anyone seen this in their images or have any advice?

Great video Brian, thank you. I normally send to Photoshop to access TopazAI and save and close and it goes back to LR. Can remind me how to send to Local- it seems quicker and avoid PS? It’s in LR Everywhere somewhere but I couldn’t find it. An index for Everywhere would be great.

I guess being 70, I have no need for all my photos to be on all my devices. I sometimes shoot on my phone, only ever process on my iMac, and occasionally upload to my iPad. I cannot imagine editing on the phone or iPad. And I store only on local storage, not trusting the cloud let alone paying for the facility.
