I live in Vienna /Austria and work in the inner city, so I meet a lot of tourists on the street. One day I was walking down the street, smoking a cigarette, when a group of Americans started shouting at me and blocked my way... "You are not allowed to smoke in public." Me: well actually I am allowed to do. Them: No!! In xyz (some American state I forgot) it is not allowed. We are from xyz, so don't smoke near us. You harm our health! Me: I don't care where you are from, I'm just passing you. Mind your own business at stop shouting at me. Them: We are free to say and shout whatever we want. That's our right as Americans. You know... Freedom of speech honey! Me.... At this time a 40 year old chubby lady with green hair... Sat down in the middle of the pavement and opened a bottle of beer. "Well folks... Let's talk about freedom." I don't know why, but they ran away 🤷‍♀️😂😂

Once a bouncer in New Orleans refused to let me in the car because my ID was Canadian and he didn't recognise our Canadian Medicare card. In Canada that card is mandatory and is our most common form of ID. He kept arguing with me that it was a student card and I said look on it, it says official canadian government on it. He said he needed to see my driver's license and I told him I didn't have one (I'm partially blind so I can't drive). His answer was "I'm not an idiot, Canada has driver's licenses too" and I just said "I know we do, but I don't because I don't drive" so he says "then how did you get here" and I said "My friend drove, you know the one that you JUST let in right in front of me!" Moron

I'm a quarter Scottish (my maternal nan was from Leadhills in South Lanarkshire) and I was with my mate Sam (who is half Scottish, his dad is from Glasgow) ... We're in a Scottish pub in Hastings (East Sussex) called The Royal Albian, tartans and Wood panelling on all the walls and a claymore over the bar, the barman was a Scot (named Duncan from Arbroth, former Colour Sergeant in The 43rd Foot AKA The Cameronians)... A balls-to-the-walls Yosemitey Sam looking Texan (in cowboy boot, denim shirt and a Stetson - the only un-texan thing about his outfit being a fucking kilt, with the pleats in the front) said that we probably haven't ever seen a "true blooded Scotch man" like him after all he was a pure blooded descendent of Robert Bruce! Well, seeing the bulging wallet he had ... We all let him tell us all about the"real authentic Scotsland" all night as he slowly got "more jovial", and as the night wore on he had less of a grasp of the value of the "plastic monopoly money with that old broad and the funky colors on it" (AKA kept buying us drinks) ... As a 25 year old student, I just let his crap slide - a free drink's a free drink, and he wouldn't buy anything but top shelf aged Glen whiskeys!

Ooooh, I have so many I can add but let me just share the funniest one from my trips to the US. This was about 5/6 years ago. I met a couple of people around my age on a cruise. We were getting to know one another since we'd see each other around for the next couple of days. One of them asked me where I am from (Bahrain). First of all, they didn't know that Bahrain existed--which can happen, so I told them it's a small country in Asia. They then looked apprehensive and told me that I don't look Asian (????). I further explained that it's located in the Middle East, close to Saudi Arabia and the UAE. They nodded but still looked clueless. Grasping at straws, I mentioned Dubai and finally saw recognition in their eyes. I was so glad that I was done with the convo until someone asked me whether I travel on camels to go to school... 😭💀

I wanted to buy a new camera and the guy showed me two options that fit the description of what I was looking for, so I asked "which one is cheaper?" and this dude legit told me that the word cheaper didn't exist and I should've said "less expensive". I'm Brazilian and I was only 16 at the time so I started second guessing what I said since he sounded so sure of it. I looked it up as soon as I got to the hotel and was appalled by the AUDACITY of this man to try and embarrass me in front of everyone for no reason...

There was a Mother of my child's classmate we ran into at a grocery store. I look down & see her two elementary school aged children drinking Truly Hard Seltzer. I said, "Those are Truly™s...!" & she replied, "Oh yeah, they LOVE these we go through a box a week." I had to tell her they had alcohol in them. She couldn't even talk. She just took them away & left without saying a word. I was FLOORED.

I came from Switzerland ( currently living in Tokyo, Japan ). I met an american guy who said that my "Swedish accent" is very charming, and he loves my "typical Swedish look" which is light blonde hair with pale eyes. I repeatedly said that I'm a Swiss, not a Swedish but that american guy seemed to not know the difference !!

I can't help this odd feeling that the French girl is fake. It makes no sense to mention her outfit and it is weird to drink out of a bidet, but it is not soooo disgusting imo. At least here in Austria the water wich comes out of the tab of our bidets is drinkable. A bidet is just like a lower built sink with a water tab... I had a lot of disgusting stuff in my kitchen sink and still drink water from this tab. 🤷‍♀️

I feel like the Caped Crusader popping in to save you from A Fate Worse Than Death: impalement on a bathroom fixture! We know the USA aren't very good with accents, so that you wouldn't get the fact that the "French" girls is using a faux French accent - the accent isn't French - it's "Stage French" i.e. the way French people are portrayed in comedies and such. Just as most Brits in comedies & such have a "typical" Brit accent. (Which is wrong on so many levels we won't bother with it). But hey, it's Social Media: just pretending to be something you aren't is pretty endemic.. But what's a little bit tragic is the silly girl has, obviously, never seen or used a bidet in her life. Her reason for being revolted at his drinking from the bidet she gives as being because you shove a bidet up your arse!! Jeez, all she had to do was to look up what a bidet was on-line. Didn't even have to read it...just look at them. Then think about how - why - you'd insert it?? A "douche" is the one that people insert both vaginally & anally. A douche is small, and portable and not part of the fittings & fixtures of the bathroom. A bidet is for washing your genital area after using the lavatory, or after sex, or when (women) have their period. So please, please, if you ever stay somewhere where there is a bidet never, not even just out of curiosity, try shoving it up any orifices whatsoever...it would be so embarrassing if you had to ring up the desk to get someone to come up and try to detach you from the built-in bidet.🤣😂🤣

One that always gets me that all non Americans say is "Americans are stupid, they don't know geography" about their country. Well how about naming all 50 US state capitols or some other useless trivia to prove it then Mr. Ireland? Memorizing geography is a way to build neural pathways at an early age for help with mnemonic systems etc. It's an education model unless you are a wartime general in a foreign land. Insulting someone half the world away who doesn't know your hometown isn't really a point of national pride to take.

When was the last time you needed to know if Kansas was east or west of Missouri if you work as an IT guy in India? Again it's a teaching tool, not a trade specific or national intelligence measure. I certainly wasn't educated on other countries while I was in school, but I've educated myself in the 20 years since I've left school. Besides, "Mr. Ireland" wasn't talking about knowing where Dublin was. He was talking about an American not knowing that an ISLAND has beaches. It may not be tropical, but a beach is still a beach. I’m Canadian and knew all the American states and their capitals in Grade 4, All through elementary school we learn the entire world geography ( at least we did when I went to school. We had constant tests consisting o of unmarked continent maps and full world maps. We had to identify the country and it’s capital and know at least one of it’s biggest exports.
