Jimmy - “Rubix & Miguel. Again, quite a battle for real, with two very different styles ! Miguel who’s really technical, who uses his entire body for variations ; and his isolations, incredible ! He’s just incredible. Plus the loose and extended hair really giving him a stylish vibe, you’d think he was Hard Rocker ! (laughs) Then you have Rubix who’s really technical too, but uses technique to widen his range ; he’s somebody who’s really extensive and manages to catch on to the music, even in very difficult positions and pockets. Quick simply, he embodies the music. On the first round, I give it to Rubix. I thought that Miguel wasn’t really into it, plus he had the water bottle in hand. Usually when he’s with a bottle, he uses the prop a lot to create concepts. Here he finishes his round while sipping the bottle, but he didn’t look comfortable dancing. Rubix on the other hand was really calm, really into it. He still didn’t go all out. But when he did the Grizzly, I was shook for real. He always has the perfect timing to make his dance look extensive and elegant, and to also suspend time. Time suspension is definitely what defines musicality for me. Second round I give it to Miguel. The track had a Break n Beat flavor to it so it definitely spoke more to him. I thought that by the end Rubix was in the music, but in the beginning he was struggling to get into it. Miguel however was into it from A to Z. Everything worked ; he had his technique PLUS the footwork matching the Break n Beat, and that’s difficult to pull off ! To continue to build your round more and more with no pause is commendable. On the third round, I’m giving it to Rubix. He kept the same step for the entirety of his round and developed it when needed. Not only was he in the music, but he played really well with the crowd too. He knew the sound, but didn’t “beat” it : he wasn’t constantly hitting it, he gave it room to breath and elaborated on steps instead. He was like “imma work around this one step”. An Afro step, working towards a Hip Hop step, back to Afro .. Honestly, he really managed to make it his round work on steps alone. Miguel of course had a superb round too, it evolved even better in the later stages, but I gave the round to Rubix because he told a continuous story while Miguel did great but had instances in his dance where the story changed. All in all, a beautiful battle. 2 points for Rubix = Rubix Winner"

i'm liking what Rubix is doing, he's finding ways to do his signatures without looking too familiiar and I'm not sure what's going on I simply feel the difference. It's really difficult since most of his moves are slow/long being power moves so it also means they take up a high minimum of his rounds whenever he chooses to do em.
@HizaguiC3 жыл бұрын
Completely agree with Rubix taking the first round and Miguel taking the other two, especially the last round, the first two were somewhat close but Miguel just used every part of the song on the third, even taking time to mess with Rubix/Criminalz at 11:35 .

Wish the audio was a bit clearer of the battles you watch bro. Sometimes your mic and voice overpower the music too much. It’s good to be able to hear the musicality of the dancers to also be on a level with your reaction. It’s all good most of the time but more recently something I personally have noticed. Much love tho I subscribe so I keep it real with you

Appreciate you actually subscribing man. I don’t have that problem with the audio especially if it’s with multiple videos from what I’ve been dropping recently. I’ve done a lot of adjusting when it comes to balancing out the audio but I’ll try to figure something out

Doc genuine question: Do you think Rubix relies too much on powermoves?
@AgroFro3 жыл бұрын
He doesnt use power moves in the lab sessions he does. He still kills it regardless. But it may look like he "relies" on them because it's a battle battle and power moves are good wow factors.

That’s what people focus on too much without really digging in to what he’s actually with his flow and groove. Jimmy explained why rubix won the battle at the end of the original video.
@DRAGON-ni5im3 жыл бұрын
No he dont do powermoves to look cool or to wow people , he just flows with the music , if you listen properly the moves are what the music is ! And it looks good

@@metalspalace it must be nerve wracking to be a judge these days. If this was boxing it would be like 110 - 112 Miguel. Those polyrhythms (word to Otis). It’s like watching Hoan vs Jaygee. That might be a bad analogy though. I don’t know mannnnn.

I can tell you're a bit apprehensive to make critical remarks about Rubix, because you don't want to seem like you're always coming at him. But that's a sign of great objectivity and not subjectivity. You just keeping it 100, and from an honest place - not a place of hate. And I agree with your assessment. Many times Rubix just seems all over the place. I wish he would work more on his "non-floor" game, because I think he resorts to that too much. And honestly, I don't think that's where he shines his best. I've seen much better floor game from other dancers. I'd like to see more high-level technique from Rubix, or even better flow. He doesn't sit in pockets well enough for me. I give this one to Miguel.
@y0ungblo0d3 жыл бұрын
Don't worry my dude... Rubix is clearly adapting lol. You can tell he's trying something different. Though I do understand where you're coming from
